Keyless Entry

Hi!
Now I'm the proud owner of a 1990 LSC. It doesn't look like new, but has only 59k mls on the odo ...
One think I worry about is that the pre-owner(s) know(s) the code for the keyless entry. Is there any possibility to change the original code? If not, is there a way to deactivate the keyless entry at all?
Thanks for helping!

MAYBE - just MAYBE the dealer can erase that original code, but I doubt it. You can add you're own code, byt both codes would work. You don't trust that original owner?

Then Ford didn't think about the possibility that the cars could be sold to another owner ...
There's no override to the original code?
Worst case ...
No chance to deactivate the keyless entry?

Dealer? No chance! I'm glad to find a garage which will do anything to the car - I'm from Germany ...

Do you think that one can trust anyone? Mankind is bad

Yes, there probably is ; BUT - it will also disable your automatic locks and a few other things....of which I don't know. I'm sure the RKE (?) module will disable things you won't want disabled!!

My memory is rusty on this but I'm pretty sure the RKE module is under the rear package shelf. I saw a post many moons ago how to disassemble and change the code. So I'm pretty sure it can be done.

JP...I do believe you are correct...NOW, I seem to remember something about that too. If I remember, it was a rather arcaiac way of putting new numbers in...I wonder if it was on this site or the old one...Lemme search on RKE

I couldn't find anything except your (JP) old threads about the problems you were having with the door lock actuators.... and lots about pinkin' - again! Maybe it wasn't in THIS forum.

hehehe How'd that get in there?

LM7 door codes can only be changed by replacing the module.

Yes. It's attached to the underside of the driver's side package tray. Disabling requires disconnection.

If the car has a factory alarm then I highly suggest NOT disconnecting it but replacing it with another module.

There may be compatibility issues. Some LM7 components are grouped by 1984-1987
1988-1998
1990-1992

When In Doubt
Replace It Out.

The RKE module runs all door locks, part of the alarm system, trunk lid release, etc, etc... Don't try to disable it!

Take the door panel off and simply unplug the keypad. There's a short harness from the 'pad to an 8-pin grey connector. If you disconnect that, ALL other RKE functions will remain , but the keypad will not work.
