My wife got an ankle replacement a few years ago. Her quality of life is probably way better than it would be if she hadn't done it. It was a process to recover, make sure you do it, don't push it until you have to, then make sure you do the rehab and life will be good in no time.
She didn't get a knee scooter because they had to stabilize the joint way up her leg, so it was healing as well, I had to step up and be a parent and a care giver, make sure she didn't overdo it or underdo it later on.
