Hi guy's I am looking @ 98-02 continental 99 and up TC and 2nd gen Mark VIII what are the pros and cons of each obviously the continental will be the best in snow but how are the others honestly? The Marks are sweet but it seems FMC has really turned them into a bastard child, headlight and suspension. Please help narrow this down for me. Any body have a non centrifugal supercharger on any of the 32 valve ?

The Mark VIII looks the best and was the last Lincoln coupe. Town Cars are proven durable as they served as livery cars and have the comfort. Continentals have FWD and will be the least sporty, I would take a Mark VIII with good snow tires vs a Continental with all season tires in the snow.

Thanks Steve I'm looking @ a 98 monday but what is one to do about headlight's and front air ride as I would want to keep it air. But in all honesty of the cars mentioned the 8 really my favorite but have not driven one yet.

Billcu drives his Mark VIII(s) in the winter all the time. Hard to beat a good Town Car for a daily driver. If snow is a concern, dedicated winter wheels and tires are the way to go in any of them.

The one I am looking @ monday the guy says came from Tennessee 3 yrs ago and has never seen a winter. I will be driving the snot out of it as I feel the car was ment to be driven. The seller told me there is a problem with the heat that he has to change from heat to a/c through the glove box . Is this a still a repairable item ? This is an awesome forum but it's hard to know were to start when you don't have the car in front of you.

Is there a non centrifugal supercharger for the 32 valve intek engine something that will start @ a lower rpm. I owned a 95 Riviera that was roots supercharged and that old girl had power everywhere. The Mark VIII is a sweet looking ride I am hoping that it has a little more smoke then the 98 continental I drove today.

No one makes any kits specific to the Mark VIII but Kenne Bell makes a positive displacement SC for the 96-98 Cobra that will work with modifications.

Welcome!

Yes, I love the Mark VIII's in the snow. I don't care for front wheel drive in the snow. I have 4 snow tires, keep an extra full size spare and tools in the trunk, and make sure I fill the tank for more weight, when we get a snowfall or ice.

The traction control and ABS come in handy when needed, but I usually turn the TC off to test the traction, and for fun in the snow.:D

Search this forum, there are adapters for fitting after market HID kits and there are used and a few new bulbs floating around on eBay. Some one here just grabbed some NOS front bags, there are aftermarket but I don't think they replace the shock part. Some here have modified the front bag to take another shock I believe. The last Mark VIII are 18 years old now, but with forum like this and eBay you can keep them going.

Ok thanks to everyone here I am feeling more confident about the viii overall. The aftermarket kit's for hid have some support. What about the heater door ? The front struts with a aftermarket shock could work. I will search for a write up. Is there anything specific to these cars that I need to look at for a pre purchase consideration?

Bill how many times a week do you wash those beautiful Mark's in this SE Mi weather? They all look pretty clean.

Thanks for the compliment, but I don't drive the ones in my signature photo in the winter. I drive just the 98 beater.:)

There were 2 people who modified the front shock portion to use an aftermarket shock cartridge. However, I don't believe there are any more new shock cartridges being made. Also, don't forget the 99-02 continentals uses the 1st gen "C" head. 98 has the "B" head.
