I know as we journey throughout our own towns we all see other Marks out there driving around, Danny (ndoghouse) and I regularly discuss the Marks that we pass on our jaunts here and there.

Yesterday I rolled up on a beautifull 2nd gen deep burgandy colored CE at a stop light and in the same day had a clean maroon 1st gen pass me on the the hwy, unfortunatley I was in my old school F150 Flareside and so to no avail they didn't know I was an enthusist of the Marks.

We have also taken pics of the Marks running around town to compare notes, there is also one that is kept under a car cover around the corner from me and is very, very, very rarely ever seen missing from it's spot let alone seen driving around town, I have also pointed this one out to XLRVIII and Danny.

It's interesting that there are so many here in the Texas area that we don't have a regonal section for us in the forums.

And due to the fact that it's not uncommon for me to have a minimum of 3-4 Marks in my driveway on the weekends.

Would anyone else be interested in a Texas regonal section here, and would it be a problem with the admin to make such a section?

XLRVIII, Tripany, Danny (ndoghouse), and my wife and I have seriously thought about having a Lincoln GTG/BBQ here at the house, we regulary do this with our Ford Explorer Off Road group and Mustang group that we are dedicated members to.

I'm new to the forum, and I just brought my Mark, and its not running properly yet, but I think that we be a good idea. My husband and I never did any thing like that before with cars and car meets, but its worth a try. I say go for it. Maurice and Rere.:7

It is very common for people to "miss flights" in houston because of traffic, traffic, traffic..

Dave, you need to miss your flight and come out to the track.. it's only like 2 exits from the truck plant.

SVO,

If you guys want to form a Texas chapter you need to have 7 dues paying members and then you would need one of those members to take on the role of President for the chapter. You would also have to get in contact with the BOD for the club who will then decide on approving the chapter. Once they approve the chapter a chapter section could be set up on this message board. Really easy to do if you can get 7 paid members in the area.

Do we still require 7 paid members?

There are benefits on top of that. The club provides funds to support meets and has business cards, flyers, etc.

I was telling Jeff/SVO on the phone that since I and He aren't dues paying members..that this probably wouldn't occur..

I dont guess Wearing an LOD tshirt at ALL our races would hold any weight..haha

Ok I see how this works now, lil more info than what Tom and I talked about, for those Mark owners that will be showing to the Explorer/Mustang/Mark VIII get together/BBQ this weekend, we'll discuss what we all want to do and see if this venue is what we want to persue.

We usally have seperate BBQ/GTG's for each club, this time we though it would be nice to combine the 3 seperate vehicle venues together and allow each of them a taste of what the other has to offer.

These are family oriented events, wife's/girl friends and kids are encouraged and welcome to attend, and just because it starts out automotive oriented, there are a wide array of professions that attend, so it's more than just a "car type discussion", networking has been a great asset with these GTG's, I can think of two people right off with each other's help had been able to get thier business'further out there be cause they met.

As for the provided funds, that's something that's really not needed, as 95% of all the people whom attend usally provide something to be able to help pull it off together, awards are all ways donated by the people attending and are graciously given out without reguard as to the cost, we provide an atmosphere that everyone is welcome and should want to come out without the thought of feeling that they HAVE to do something, the comeradery is what keeps bringing them back.
The cool thing is, if there is something we need we just put it up and someone almost always steps up to the plate to have it taken care of, although it's nice to know that LOD does provide things such as this, it a nice offer.

Consiquintly, insted of having to goto a state park, although nice, and we have discussed this, I have ample parking for approx 30-45 vehicles to be shown, about the only thing you need is a fold out chair.

It's really a great thing when you can put faces with usernames/names, moderators/admins and newbies alike.

At the last Explorer GTG we slammed out about 30lbs of meat, and had all sorts of great side dishes that people brought, and a fantastic array of beers to choose from.

Halloween we had a tremendious turn out with the Mustang group as only 3 out of some 30 people who show didn't come in costume.

There have been other GTG's inbetween those and more to come as the days progress.

This coming weekend's GTG (06/17/2006) we'll actually have a professional window tinter from Ford here tinting people's window's for a largely discounted rate.

On some occasion's we also hand out awards for those that have had noted achievements within the clubs standing, some are annual and some are baised on the situation as I was just awared the "Chief's" award just a few month's ago for doing all the cook outs here at the house for the GTG's and on the trail/camp outs for the off road group.

I also have an award to present this year for the "Best Carnage"

Enough rambling, we'll discuss what we want to try and achieve and lay it out for everyone to give thier opinions and how they feel about it.
From there we'll proceed as we deam nesiccary.

Thanx for all the info and look forward to possibly putting a southern/Texas chapter together.

I commend your enthusiasm and encourage your BBQ/GTG's to continue regardless of any club affiliation.

In accordance to our charter, a group of seven or more is currently required to form a chapter...

Chapters

Any group of seven or more members of this club may make written application to the Board of Directors for the right to form a Chapter of this club. If a charter is granted, the Board shall specify the name and jurisdiction. The Board may revoke the Charter at any time upon due consideration.

Chapters may hold local meetings when and where they desire. Chapters may submit to the President a request for funds to fund a local meeting. Lincolns of Distinction Car Club Inc. shall not be held liable for any damages, injuries, or deaths that may occur at any club or Chapter meeting.

Given enough interest, I'm confident the charter could be ammended to consider smaller groups. As a club, we encourage any group activities and meets. :)

Hey Man! Just noticed this post goin! I gotta chime in! We definately have chapter material goin on here. I'm a paid member already and will do whatever it takes to get things going. Count me in! GTG's are always fun and BBQ's are almost a daily thing for me anyway. Just say beer and carnage and you can count on me!!! Since the infamous "Ghost Post" I have met up with some awesome neighbors, cool racin buddies (thats you Tommy and Tiffany), and just some real cool Texas hospitality. It has really been cool meeting your stang and explorer friends as well. We have definately got something going on here we need to keep building on. Heck I even had a chance to retrofit my TSC mod to a spankin new supercharged GT! Sorry bout the slobber on the drivers seat:) Don't see that every weekend. Nice job on the guage pod install. Wish I'd have gotten there earlier for some test rides. I also must say that Chris sure did a killer job on them GT's windows. I was only gone for a few hours and he had them both done! Funny cause I asked him what he did for a living and I thought he said "pick my nose" (im thinkin...must be nice$$$) but he actually said "tint windows":) I can see why he does the latter. I know who's tinting the UFO! No buggers under the film tho:7
OK nuff said! This Texas chapter will definately be a blast! I have five acres of pine trees if things spill over from your property!
BTW I saw a Ghost clone '93 at the cinema. Had bumper stickers etc all over it(soccer mom?). I left a friendly note on it with my email address. Didnt look like a racer but never know? Wasnt near as nice as the Ghost but still a Mark VIII.
Welcome Maurice and Rere! Look forward to meeting yall as well. If you dont race you should at least come to Sealy one Fri and meet everyone. The track is closed next weekend for improvements but supposedly opening soon!

wow, can't believe that I've missed this post for this long...guess school's taking up too much time. Geez Tommy, Tiff why didn't you guys tell me about these meets? I have 2 marks that I love to show off...even if they are dirty and need some love. Let me and the Mrs. know if this chapter is a go so I can pay my dues. Never paid them to date cause I'm not here that much...but that can change quickly if I know I can do some more networking. Maybe I can start getting some guys interested in having me do some maintenance or performance enhancing work on their marks and such for some extra money for my own car parts:D ::wtf::

Ok you guys let me know when, if, why, where and all that stuff.

Justin
