Local Shop in Mass

So I would like to find a local shop since Jeremi doesn't seem interested in moving to Boston:fart. I have (2) options at the moment as these are what all the Mustang Forums are promoting.
1. DEZ racing about 45 mins away.
2. MPE racing about 35 mins away and near an awesome dive bar w the best wings.

I was advised to stay clear of DEZ racing by a MarkVIII enthusiast (Eric) but all the mustang people I talk to love these people. I have a buddy w a 02 Saleen who tried both places and loves DEZ. Many of the Mustang forums lean towards DEZ thus I think I will give them a try; unless Eric wants the job:rolleyes:.
Currently the car is a solid as Jeremi built with the exception that the shifter linkage seems to be loose and I can feel the shifter moving when I hit bumps and such so I want it looked at ASAP (Spring time). I am not sure if it is a function of the crazy custom shifter linkage Jeremi made or my poor manual driving technique. I believe the problem is likely due to my driving the car but the issue didn't start untill the last 200 miles or so and I am much better than when I started (3000 miles ago).
Since my engine and transmission is basically a Mustang I feel DEZ is a viable option. Eric, if you feel really strong about not using them maybe we can talk about your concerns. I doubt they have ever seen a Mark 8 like this.
All opinions are welcome.

Walk in their shop, if you are anything like me you will walk right out. But hey a shop that is a total mess isn't always an indicator. My garage gets messy too at times.

-Their work and scratching the hell out of a freshly painted bumper was one strike. THey did pay to have it fixed but it was carelessness that caused it and they still denied it even though they did pay to have it fixed.
-Him having absolutely no clue about obd 1 tuning was another. He didn't touch the a/f at all on my friends 93, hell he couldn't even give him a print out. I had to look at his screen and help him out, I hadn't ever seen the SCT tuning program first hand before....

I could go on but I won't, it is totally up to you, I'm just tossing out a word of warning. If it is just a shift linkage I could probably take a look at it. I can't make any promises that I can fix or find the issue since I haven't done much with manual transmissions. The only thing is you are going to have to wait a bit. I'm backlogged with projects right now and my garage still needs to be sorted out after a project I just finished. I still have a tractor and a large cutting deck taking up a parking spot.

Remind me... where in Mass are you? :D
I am in Bellingham Ma about 2 miles off of 495 at exit #18.

I work for 1 of the largest Electrical Contractors in Boston and if you saw our Main Office you'd run fast too. But it is that low overhead that allows us to do the great quality work we do; and get me awesome company cars..
Let's talk some day, I am interested in all your concerns with DEZ. At least it gives me something to look out for and discuss with them. I have already contacted them to talk about them working on the car and to address concerns with giving my car to shops. I have no problem discussing their faults ahead of time (under the guise of 'issues from other shops').

There are many hi-po shops that specialize in stangs. some are good at one thing-----standard stang customizing. Others are good at customizing anything. In Chicago there are numerous custom shops that specialize in Fords and chevys. Every shop has its fans and non-fans.

Anyone here heard of Leonard's Auto Repair and Towing located in Taunton, Ma?
There is actually a shop pretty close to my house that my friends brother goes to. I know they specialize in GM, but if it is more basic stuff that you are doing I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue. He has a C5 Z06 that has a lot of mods, he is pretty picky with who does his work too. It might be worth looking into them a bit to see if they are good. I could always check in on things if you are leaving your car there, it is right on my way home from work, just 5-10 minutes from my house.

I don't know anything about that place Leonard's. My father in law has lived in East Taunton his whole life, I'll see if he knows anything about them.

**Edit**
Leonards also does dyno tuning, NOS refils etc. I would say this isn't your typical repair and towing shop. I'll see if I can get any info on them.

Leonards builds their own mustnags and does all of their own tuning and so forth. Definately not the typical Tow Shop. I ran into a guy last night that says they work on all his mustangs and he is currently running a 9 second 03 stang.

I want someone to look at the car often and make sure all is running right. Currently the temp guage sits very low on the dial, at the N or normal. Or,'L', which ever is cooler, I am so dyslexic.:fart

I have a 180 tstat and mine sits at the bottom of the temp range right near a and l. I have used an infrared thermometer to be sure it isn't running too cold and it isn't.

I said above when I edited, that I think Leonard's might be worth a close look. They certainly aren't y our run of the mill shop. But by that same token don't think that because they do performance work, dyno tuning, etc that they do good clean work.

For what it's worth, the worlds fastest Marauder (with a BBC under the hood) comes out of Dez's shop. The owner of that car also has another Marauder that Dez built using the mod motor. He keeps going back to them, and spending big $ and making big power with no complaints. My opinion, I think this shop will have no problem doing whatever you need to have done. :)
