Hmmm...

I remember the Drive In Movie theme you suggested before. That could be one for thought. I'll have to think some more. ;)

OK... "Movie Premiere Night" is the theme for this year's club tent. ;)

We will be decorated Hollywood style with "Now Showing" signs to put next to the cars. Movie paraphernalia and anything Hollywood or Movie Theatre related (including drive-in movie) can be brought to decorate the tent.

Red carpet and Hollywood Stars optional. Mrs. Driller is shopping now. LOL

Can I suggest, although you may already have this planned, to show some classic car movies? Either on laptops all around, or on a screen? Classic car chases or something on repeat would rock too. Good luck, great theme. Sorry we can't make it this year.

If you find a public domain car movie online, usually on YouTube, let me know. I can then add it to a DVD along with classic Drive-In ads and a cartoon or two. of course we'll need a flatscreen TV for the tent and something to play the DVD on.

Here is an example of what I did for a Drive-In movie event couple of years ago

There's a lot on you tube, this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpu2c7Wfang could be added before a movie or a short (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dEpdVwGnCU) and we'd be all set.

The brightest one that I /know/ I can get my hands on is a Hitachi CP-X201

It's 2100 Lumens, and about 300 watts. I can probably grab an old pull-down screen as well, that we could just wire up to the frame of the club tent.

If something bigger / better presents itself before then, I'll try to grab it instead. :)

One thought to be aware of though. If the Carlisle people are sticklers about public performance rights, we may need to find some public domain stuff to play as well.

Update...

My 750 watt inverter from last year is toast so I ordered a 1000 watt true sine wave inverter.

I downloaded "Lincoln Lawyer" and "Hit and Run" to my iPad. I've been playing around trying to AirPlay to an Apple TV without local wifi. Apparently, only the new model Apple TVs play like this so I'll be stopping by the Apple store at the local Best Buy and upgrading. We could use a video adapter and tether it to the projector, but the Apple TV will work better in my opinion. The iPad will run all day on a charge, or it can use the USB port on the inverter. ;)

There's a couple other movies I'll be downloading as well. We can also play YouTube videos or even a slideshow from my photo album(s).

LOL... I was trying to set up a photo album on my iPad to use as a slideshow and inadvertently synched my iPhoto library. Ooops... 11,035 photos! This may take a while.

Excellent. I've been gathering supplies as well.

I'll have the projector selected by the end of the day today. Ultimately, it should have VGA input, but I have adapters to accommodate both DVI and HDMI computer outputs as well.

Do we have additional options for the audio system? I discovered that the aforementioned 90's boom box doesn't have an AUX input. it's not a show stopper, but we may have to make up a clever arrangement with a cassette tape adapter..

Updates to follow. :)

The output is HDMI but the iPad also supports bluetooth audio.

I have a JamBox Mini? ;)

I've used it with my iPod at car shows and it does a decent job for background music but it's not 'boom box' loud.

We have to drop off the dogs at the sitter tomorrow morning, run a couple errands and finish packing. Then we'll be on the road to Carlisle.
