loose handling

could be many things. Bad tires can cause this. Bad steering components such as a worn out rack. Bad suspension parts...tie rods, upper or lower ball joints, and shocks/struts. If you don't know how to inspect these things take it to a shop. If the car has lots of miles (100K+) do not be suprised if they tell more than 1 item or possibly all are worn out.

upper and lower ball joints is a good start for the front. replace with the whole control arm.

toe link compensators would probably help the rear.

Rebuild the front end and install braces.

You won't believe the difference! :)

Just to add to the list of things to check...check for slop in all four wheel bearings and play in the rear suspension bushings, particularly the UCA inner bushings.

what brand ball joints? i killed a no-name set in a summer. moog is the best i have used.

and if you have replaced suspension parts and changed the ride height, did you get it aligned afterwards? a bad alignment can really mess things up.
