On my car, (also a '97) You have about an 80% chance of setting off the alarm when unlocking the driver's door with the key, too. I'm sure there's a switch in there, but I've never bothered investigating. I just use the keypad to unlock the door instead.
I tried unplugging the hood sensor and I got the same result. Is there a specific thing in the glove box that I could unplug and just disable the whole entire system?
Where is the panic circuit? I unplugged the horn but the flashers stay on for about a minute then they go off. But I hear clicking from the fuse box in the engine and in a module in the glove box.
What can I do just to disable the whole thing? my car won't start due to the alarm going off. Right when I open the doors the system goes off for about 2 minutes and then it will shut off till the next time I open the door and after it shuts off after going off for 2 minutes my car still won't start. So I was thinking that there must be something I could do to disable the whole system so I can at least get my car started. And then figure out the issue.
