Mark VIII stalls when warm, won't restart

Has anyone have this issue? The vehicle had been sitting for years. It's currently at a local shop where all fluids and the fuel filter have been changed. I read that it might be the Cam Positioning Sensor, as I found someone else with the exact issue, but the mechanic doesn't seem to agree.

Hard to say, but I doubt the cam sensor. I would start by testing or replacing the ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor. The one on the passenger side with a 2-wire harness. The other one is for the IP temp gauge.

Beyond that I would have to suspect the fuel injectors.

When it doesn't start, it may be flooded. If so, you can depress the accelerator to the floor which will shut off the injectors and clear the flooded condition allowing the car to start.

You also may want to test the fuel pressure.

Something to add, the repair shop noticed that the problem happens when the A/C is off. They replaced some part to the HVAC systems, but that didn't change anything (i.e., they are just throwing parts at it). They didn't have the older style code reader and are reluctant to do anything until they get one and read the code.

I would take the car to another shop that knows how to work on your car. If they don't know how to pull codes from your car (I'm assuming older style means gen 1, OB1) without a reader, I wouldn't let them touch my car. :)

There's a lot to be said for that.

get your own code reader, they're as cheap as $25 online, it'll save you in the long run

I would start with 100% fresh gas, your basicly trying to light water on fire, Who knows maybe there is water in the fuel sytem blocking the gas from getting to where it needs to go. Like the others said, get your own code reader (i.e. paperclip) and drain all that gas out and put some new 93 oct in there.
