Maybe a SCT tune?

My 98 Mark gets around 24.5 to 25 mpg on the road but only gets 16 to 16.7 around town. Now if I got a SCT tune (?) would that possibly help my mileage?....I've read different threads where folks get 28-30 on the road and 18-22 around town....if possible I'd like to get the same.....I don't know what an SCT tune does....does it change (modify) the engine management computer?.....can my engine be tuned for economy or performance?......I'm in the dark here folks and I could use some information from those in the know on SCT tunes.... and where would I go to get the car tuned?.......thanks in advance.....bruce

If your car is a 2nd Gen LSC model, that mileage is dead on IMO. No tune will help it. If anything it might make it worse, as you will enjoy the car more. So get a tune if you want the car to perform better, but don't expect it to impact your gas mileage significantly.

Ok I guess I'll leave well enough alone.....It runs excellent and I don't want to mess something up if it ain't broke

i dont normally suggest tunes for OEM cars. In areas at higher elevation you can advance timing and pick up a few HP and/or MPG, but if you're anywhere near sea-level you're basically just throwing your money away.

Dont mean to pull business from a forum vendor, just tossin' in my $0.02....
