Met Chip Foose last weekend . . .

he was really cool! Brad and I went to the first annual Street Rod Nationals in Auburn, IN. Ten of the top builders were invited; as far as we could tell, the only one that didn't make it was Boyd Coddington.

We waited in line 1/2 hour to get autographs from Chip, and he didn't just sign the picture and shove us on. He was signing pictures of The Grand (parked right by him), and took the time to talk to us about some of the details of building the car. Brad mentioned that he admired the way Chip made such detailed and effortless project sketches on his show (Overhaulin'). Chip asked if we had a car; Brad said a '66 Mustang, and Chip drew a sketch of one on the picture he signed for Brad!

We also got a poster of the Fast-Forward Mustang autographed by Troy Trepanier. It was a great show, and we hope Auburn will have it again.

I was over at a hot rod shop yesterday (3C's Hotrods)talking to the owner (located around the corner from my office)about having some work done on my mustang engine & made the comment "what, you don't have your own reality show?"

He said they had come in a couple of times to talk to him, but he didn't want the daily disruption of the shop work. He said he's known Boyd for quite a while, & that he's quite a "character".

Yea, I like "Overhaulin" too... Ian Ziering's Camaro speedster was pretty sweet, tho I could do without all the skulls & ghouls & stuff in the paint. I thought the surf punk's El Camino episode was hysterical. Wish my folks would do something like that for me! Some people were just born lucky, I guess. I DO admire Chip Foose's attention to detail... very nice work.

Yeah, Overhaulin is an awesome show, and the work they do to those cars is amazing. 100x the quality of "Pimp My Ride". I just wish on overhaulin they made over more 'regular' or deserving peoples cars. On 1 overhaulin they did one of the actors from 90210, and another they did this guy that was friends with Petersen, as in the museum. The surf one was the best, its always great to see the kids who work hard with nothing to show get something, not millionaire actors. Chris

yea they do some cool stuff on that show. i've only seen a couple of episodes though.

i was watching some other show last night, tuner transformation. that show is gay. they put a body kit and some nitrous on a car, lowered it, installed some gay plasma booster crap (and cited a graph on the manufacturers website showing a 10 hp power gain, frickin' morons), and peeled off the graphics. Tuner my arse, i could have done all that in a weekend no problem.

I really like Chip Foose's designs. I'd like to see what he would come up with for my '79 Mark, on somebody else's dime, of course. I couldn't afford even one of his custom wheels.
