Modifying wheel offset?

I'm trying to stuff the biggest possible tire under the back end that I can and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I tried putting a 275/35/20 on the back but when the car dumps all the way down, it will rub. I need about another half inch in order for the wheel to tuck. My idea was to mill the back of the wheel and roll the rear lip. Has anyone ever heard of, or have experience with machining a wheel in such a manner? I don't want to screw up the balance or create any more problems.

I have also examined the rear rotor to see if it was possible to modify, but there is not enough metal to shave anymore off. I actually had the 275s installed and they looked wicked!

tony w/ the 93 tbird and the mini tbird has 295's and he has no problems, look at ponyfreaks widened stock rims w/ 295 on the sell forum and another guy that was selling his mark had 285, i have heard of someone mill the back for a less offset, but i dont remember the outcome.. there are alot of guy thou that have rolled the fender lip, no problem, nice car buy the way kale. i love that green wanna trade

I don't think those people slammed their cars the way Kale does with the rims installed.

I'd be hesitant to machine a rim like that. Can you get the same rim with a different offset?

You sure as hell can't. Can't get em bigger, smaller or wider either.

I rolled my fenders for 275's to fit, works great and can't tell from the outside. There is a tool you can rent that bolts to you hub and has a nylon roller. Do a web search for SPL or SLP performance I think. I believe they are out of texas. I rented the tool form them, cost like 45. I had to put a deposit but when I returned it I got the deposite back. No more rubbing with 275's. PM me if you have trouble contacting them.

The passenger side rubs right where the bumper cover mounts to the body. Awkward that the drivers side doesn't rub. This is when the car is almost completely dumped (my car is fast bagged). I'll take a picture tomorrow and post it...

Can you adjust the alignment in the rear to get it to tuck, without throwing the alignment off too bad?

Well I found a way to fix the tucking problem for the time being, just not sure what the hell I was thinking. I bought a set of Bullit 18x9" wheels off ebay, 30mm offset, supposedly works fine on our cars. The deal was absolutely TOO GOOD TO PASS UP!

Anyways, here's a pic of the pass side rubbing problem with the 20s:

DAMM!!! kale fender roll might work but you might be better off by the looks of it cutting it and try and seeing if you can machine the back of the rim

Here's the thing, it is the actual bumper cover that is rubbing, not only the fender. I may have to do some cutting. Even so, that's not gonna get the 275s to tuck unless there is something else I can do.

275-35-20 is a bit tall for the car, approx. 1" larger in diameter than the original tires. Could that be part of the trouble?

so what are you going to do w/ the billets when you fix your problem sell them if so i got first dibs o' did you get an alingment that might help a bit..... miss w/ the chambers
