I have a 1996 LSC with the JBL premium system. I want to connect my MP3 into the system via some kind of simple jack. Has anyone done this. If so, how. Thanks

The simplest is the plain jane RF modulator. Then tune the radio to whatever unused freq the modulator can adjust to.

It's a device you plug into the sound outlet of your MP3 player and it transmits it to your radio antenna on the FM band. Go to Radio Shack or Best Buy and have them show you one. Better yet, Google it.

I always found the cassette adapters better than the RF modulators.

They are called FM Modulators, an RF modulator is what you wire directly to your speakers to convert the sound into R/W RC cables.

I used these with MUCH success, plus they're inexpensive. No connections to stereo needed.

Same here, never had any luck around here with the RF modulators, always got interference from all the radio stations.

I've had a few of the cassette adapters and they failed on me in a short period of time....Still using the one that came with my XM radio 5 years ago! But you are correct....if you have a lot of FM stations closeby, it sucks!

Pushing an already compressed MP3 file through a modulator sounds like a formula for horrible sound to me.

That's how my cd changer attached in my 95. It actually sounded really clear an never had to change the station. I actually used the same station for my changer, Sirius, and iPod FM modulator. All were really clear, but like mentioned before, you have to find a good station.

Depends what type of unit (MP3 player) you're using and what type of plug you need.

This is a wired hookup for the iPod

This would be a standard Red/White FM Modulator with a reverse headphone jack for an MP3 player with a headphone jack setup.

Ohh. RF modulators that I've used don't transmit anything over the FM bands. They just convert sound from speaker wires into RCA cable to get sound to your amps.

An RF modulator is a Radio Frequency modulator and the last I checked, FM was a radio frequency (Frequency Modulated radio).

In my truck, I bought the XM "RF MODULATOR" to get the info to my radio. It plugs into the radio antenna input. The regular antenna plug then plugs into the RF modulator. When you turn on the XM Radio, it then disconnects the outside antenna and eliminates the commercial FM signals from interfering with the XM signal. You do not have to select a radio frequency. Much cleaner signal than when I use the XM in the Mark and use the "FM MODULATOR"!
