Need a new daily driver

My Daily driver Mark VIII got side swiped by a guy who ran a red light. The insurance called it a total loss. I need help deciding on a new daily driver. I'd like to get peoples thoughts, mainly dealing with reliability.

I'm looking for a 4-10 year old car and would like to stay in the $10k-20k range. I've pretty much ruled out anything from BMW and Audi/VW. No way I would own one of those outside of the warranty.

Ideally a manual transmission, but not a must. Don't care about fuel economy as my commute is 3 miles. Here are some ideas that I have after looking the interwebs:

2011-2012ish Cadillac CTS 3.6
2010-2013 Infiniti G37 sedan
2007-2008 Infiniti G35 sedan (hard to find those under 100k miles)
2013ish Volvo S60/V60 I really love the utility of the wagon
I saw a 2008 Volvo S80 V8 for $12k near me.
Mercury Marauder
Buick Regal GS
Volvo V70
Saab 9-2X Aero
2013 Lincoln MKZ

Any others to consider, or any of the above that are crap?

Thanks,

Find a loaded out MKZ :D :D :D

Make sure it has the heated and cooled seats with massage (added bonus, you'll also get a heated steering wheel).

Avoid the aughts Volvos.. they didn't have their electronics fully sorted, particularly at the early end. Lots of trouble with bad solders on important modules. Newer ones are probably just fine.

I love my Marauder as a daily, but you can get a REALLY nice one for quite a bit under $10k. Here are my thoughts on the rest (although most prob wont agree)

2011-2012ish Cadillac CTS 3.6 - but a gen 1 cts-v instead
2010-2013 Infiniti G37 sedan - hard to find in manual, but worth it in my book
2007-2008 Infiniti G35 sedan (hard to find those under 100k miles) - getting hard to find in good shape, regardless of mileage
2013ish Volvo S60/V60 I really love the utility of the wagon - don't know anything about them so can't comment
I saw a 2008 Volvo S80 V8 for $12k near me. - again I don't know anything about volvos
Mercury Marauder - badass daily
Buick Regal GS - great car, and great looking, but the backseat is useless
Volvo V70 - really like these as of recently
Saab 9-2X Aero - hard to find in manual, Id also encourage you to look at a Legacy GT, better car in my opinion
2013 Lincoln MKZ - like these cars, but not sure they are worth the premium over the fusion titaniums

I would also suggest:

Altima 3.5
Maxima with sport pkg
Accord sport (available with 6sp manual)
Focus ST
Genesis 5.0 Rspec (might be hard at your price point)
Lexus Ls460
G8 GT
Taurus SHO\MKS EB
Volvo c30r - don't know anything about them, but they look cool
Mazda 6
Acura

Id get a marauder since their value is only going up and youd have a decent amount of cash leftover
Id even look at an early 2000s Thunderbird

Looking for some utility, but no SUV or CUV.

Genesis?

Probably looking for something with 4 doors.

Maybe a nice, practical pickup truck.

I like the idea of a truck, having the practicality of the truck bed, but it's not really garagable for me, and I'm not just not a truck guy, especially that.

It's a 4.6

Don't trust how the previous owners drove a car like that. I have a fast car, really not looking for another one.

GTO!

I've always wanted one. But the fuel tank location removes any utility.

Audi S4

In theory I love that car, I would never own an Audi or BMW outside of the warranty.

I know you said "no BMW," but this one is a wagon

Same as above. Their engines are ****.
I've been really looking at the MKZ lately. That front grill has grown on me. I can't believe the depreciation on those. I've seen many 2013-2014 with 20k-40k miles for around $20,000. I'll look for one with the seat massage Joe.

BTW I'm getting $5700 for my green 98. I'll try to post pics soon.

The grill grew on me as well... :D

The seats are a must have, if you're gonna spend the money, might as well have the best seats... it's not like you're standing when in the car...:D

PS... so nice to auto start the car when it's cold out and have the seat and steering wheel be nice and hot when you get in :D
(or in the summer you can have the seat cooled with the auto start)

Yes it does and it has wave motion seats too. The MKS sits outside so mom uses the remote start all the time.

I have not seen an MKZ in my area with the massaging seats. I've been looking at some Fusions nearby. There is a 2016 with 54,000 miles with every option except AWD. So it has the heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel. How do those seats compare to the MKZ?

If your commute is super short, you might use almost no gas at all with the hybrid... :D

Anyway, I can't comment of the fusion seats compared to the MKZ with the fancy seats. The MKZ seats have adjustable, 3 different back lumbars and back & bottom side bolsters. :D

... in addition to the massage ... :D

Actually, I was just looking at a couple Fusion Energi's around here. You can go about 20 miles on battery. Since my commute is 3 miles (7 miles on days my dog goes to daycare), this might be my best option. My thinking is that with a 3 mile commute, my engine will never reach operating temperature. I'll have to drive one to see if I like it at all.

Forgot about those C-max cars. I just hope they don't reek of cheapness. I like the new volt, not so much the previous one. Definitely do not want all electric, not feasible for me yet with any longer distances.
