Need a new daily driver

Don't forget the trusty Panthers. Town Cars, Crown Vics, Marquis. I'm rocking my 2002 Grand Marquis with 202k and zero driveability issues. It rides like a new car. The typical front end stuff has been replaced and it's like the odometer rolled back 100k.

Since my commute to/from work is 3 miles, how detrimental is that to an engine long term being driven for only short distances when it can never get up to a normal operating temperature?

my 1.25 mile commute seems to indicate that it's really not a problem at all... Either on my 279,000 mile Town Car, or either of the Marks...

Good to know Mike. After reading reviews on the C-max, I'm waffling. The C-max made logical sense to me, but is it what I really want? This is why I hate having to make these decisions so quickly.

For a commuter, the whole "plug-in" aspect really is appealing to me, and the "wagon" form factor (more or less) is pretty versatile. If you're even curious, I'd say there's no harm in swinging by for a test drive. I don't know anything about the dealership in the CL link above, but I'd think AutoNation in White Bear Lake would have one on the lot too. If you are as set in your ways as I am, I suspect you'll know quite quickly if it is the car for you.

Jesus that sucks, that was a nice Mark, how bad can you buy back?
I just bought a Jeep and love it for winter months.

For a short commute like that, I'd either walk or buy the most ridiculous and fun car money can get. Sadly, none of the ones mentioned above qualify LOL.

You want it ? It goes up on the 9th ;)

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I second (third, fourth?) the G8 GT. I've had one since 2013, and love it.

Here's what I ended up getting

2012 Cadillac CTS Premium, 3.6, AWD, Heated/Ventillated seats, Heated steering wheel, 54k miles. It came with a lifetime powertrain warranty from the dealer that I bought it at.

Here's the Cadillac and the Lincoln getting along together in the garage.

Sorry about that. I had issues posting pictures. At first it had duplicate pictures and I tried to delete the duplicates. See if this works:

I take it you like red, looks great, nice upgrade.
There was 1 other CTS with the exact same options and mileage in a dark grey/blue metallic that I really liked. The only reason I chose the red one was that it came with the lifetime powertrain warranty.

Having worked in a Cadillac and a couple Chevrolet dealerships buy yourself the best/longest extended service contract that covers the whole car like a Major Guard, never mind just the power train warranty.
