Need Help with Gear Install

Not sure where to post this, lol.

So years and years ago (or last year sometime but it seems like ages), I bought 3.73 gears from Pony. Still haven't installed them.

Hubby says he's really not sure he wants to do it, and told me to get a quote from my shop. They quoted $475.

Really, I guess it's just a simple swap out, and thought perhaps if anyone in the club wanted to make a little money, perhaps we could work something out, or arrange a meet or something?

Let me know if you're interested.

This is a job for a professional!! Getting the gear backlash and preload exactly right requires proper tools and expertise. I suggest getting another center section and installing the gears (and traction lock) in that unit. Then change out the whole center section. If you don't like it, you can put yours back in and sell the new one for bucks!

Yeah, got the whole thing. My shop was rather hesitant it seemed to trust it, cause they don't know Pony. They may have estimated high end as they were worried about condition (really seemed to think I may have gotten it from a junkyard), etc.

Eli explained it to Hubby while he was picking up his car, and Hubby is just too not comfortable with doing it himself. Which is probably a good thing. :7

EDIT: Thanks Jeremi for the offer. Not sure if there will be a place there to do it, but it could be a good idea if people don't mind, and I don't mind paying (even in beer - bring lots of coolers hee hee).

I wish you were closer.. or if you were going to be heading this way.

I've got a guy that lives not too far away that would do the swap for "prolly hundred dollars".

He is the guy that did mine, start to finish was 1.5 hours.. he would have finished sooner had I not be hanging around buggin him.

Meet in Putin Bay. I'll put it in for free ... hmm ... for beer that is.

Now there's an idea!

You could do a "clinic" for everyone!
