Hey... I just wanted to say hi, I've had my eye on a mark VIII for a few years now and yesterday picked up a low milage, fully loaded 1993 Mark VIII and I am absolutly in love with it. At first I wanted to mod it out a little, but after driving it... I don't think I want to change a thing on it. I do have one quick question though, I remember reading about these cars a while back and as I recall they didn't make a 93 LSC, correct? Well, I was looking through the owners book that came with the car, trying to figure out the memory seats and what not, and I found a card that was issued to the origional owner of the car. It's from Ford/Lincoln and resembles a credit card. It has the cars Vin number(I'm pretty sure) on it along with a pin number... on the top of the card it says "Dealers Warentee card" or something along those lines and at the bottom of the card (under the vin number) it says "1993 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC". Whats the deal with that? Did they make LSC's all the way from 93-98?

Take it easy,

-Steve

Welcome Steve.

If your car is an LSC it should have the emblem on the back. It should also have true dual exhaust.

Congratulations on your new Mark. I hope you enjoy your Mark as much as I do. Did you get the low mileage Mark that was on the auction website?

There have been others who ask the same question you are asking. I believe Lincoln just put that on there as a way to describe it as being their Luxury Sport Coupe. Through the 1992 model year on the Mark VII's, there were LSC's, but when they introduced the new for '93 Marks, there were none labeled LSC. I think the LSC was not released again until the 1996 year. It has several obvious differences from the base model like no chrome strips on the bumper covers and door trim and the LSC badge on the passenger rear deck lid. There are other differences which someone may add to my statements. The LSC was also made in the '97 and '98 year.

Yours is not the 'real LSC' as they are called in '96 thru '98, but it is a Luxury Sport Coupe. So in a sense, it is an LSC. Is that confusing enough for you? ;-)

Dean,

That's the story with my 96 Anniv Ed. I know for certain they produced a base, and the LSC version, but on my window sticker (which I still carry in my glove compartment) it states "LSC" but I don't have the badge, HIDs, or the true dual exhaust. I've read a lot of various history sources about her and understand that they didn't implement those until about half-way thru the years production run.

I sent you a PM

From 1993 thru 1995 ALL Mark VIIIs were known as Mark VIII LSC. There were no other models, the LSC was just a part of the name. In 1995.5 they brought out a higher performance model and called it Mark VIII LSC, and at that time the "other" model became a Mark VIII. This continued thru to the end in 1998.

The "true" LSC (s) were those so labeled from 1995 & a half to 1998. They have no exterior chrome, different wheels (usually) and perforated leather seats, and true dual exhausts. They are good for 15 Horsepower more.

thanks for the warm welcomes and clearing that up for me. I think I'm going like it here.

Dean,
no... a friend of mine has an uncle that owned her prior to me buying it. I've looked at it before and what not and even offered to trade him for my old T-Bird Supercoupe, but with no luck, lol. I heard he was selling it about a month or two ago and jumped on it.

Thanks again,
-Steve :)

Steve,

Welcome. Glad you're here. You're going to absolutely love this website. In addition to learning a great deal about your car, you'll save a tremendous amount of money should problems arise. Even if you can't do the work yourself, you will most certainly be able to speak knowlegdeably with others about it. It will prevent the crooks from taking your money.

I notice you're in the NE. That part of the country has the largest concentration of Mark VIII experts. If you do decide to modify your car check out Lincoln Motor Sports (ONEBADMK8), Geno has many custom parts for the Mark, and you'll never meet a nicer person. I know Buffalo is a long drive to south of the NYC metro area, but I am confident enough in his ability and honesty that I drove from San Antonio, TX to let him lay hands on my car. I can tell you from personal experience that you can't say that about everyone. Should we get to meet in person I'll tell you a couple of horrow stories.

Speaking of meeting, why don't you consider coming to Carlisle, PA for the upcoming meet. A lot of club members will be there, and you'll get to see first hand the many benefits of being a member of LOD. All information is available here on the board.

Looking forward to meeting you and your Mark VIII, and should you have any questions feel free to email or PM me. Have a good day sir.

Thanks alot Lee... I really appreciate it. I look forward to owning this car for a long time to come and hope to meet as many of you as possible. As of right now, I should be heading down to Carlisle with a few guys from TCCoA (well... the ones that act like grown adults at least :-() so I'm sure I'll get to meet alot of you guys/girls there. Is there a place you guys meet at or do you register before hand (I've never been there, but have heard alot about it)? It'd be nice to park near some other mark owners, as I'm sure you can relate, haha.

Thanks and take care,
-Steve

Steve,

Go to the boards main page, click on LOD Community, click on Al-Ford Carlisle, there's lots of info. LOD has a block of rooms set aside at the Camp Hill Radisson and the club meeting and banquet will be held there.

Hi Steve. I'm relatively new here and to the MARK VIII as well but I've never owned a sweeter looking auto and probably never will. I've considered all the exotic mods but have decided to wait until something major breaks before taking the leap(s). I joined the club immediately for twenty bucks and I swear I've saved 10 X that in advice and vendor discounts in just the last few months. Good luck. We need a tighter club here on the west coast, tho.

Welcome to the club. I also am fairly new to the club. I have learned a ton of stuff already in a short time. I also plan on doing a few mods nothing big. Mainly exhaust and possibly sensor lower. I looked a few other cars like the Taruas SHO ( mid 90's) and lexus, but felt this car was a great combination between performance and lux. good luck woith yours.

thanks alot guys... I'm really enjoying this car so far. By far the best vehicle I've ever owned. I do get the "why do you want an old persons car for?" comment alot though, on the other hand... I've also gotten alot of complements on it too. I guess that's what seperates the enthusiest from the average "car buyer" :)

take it easy,
-Steve

Hi Bryan,

She's actually a Diamond Anniversary. It looks like it's possible. I've got the car and it sure doesn't have them. :) The "T" in my VIN indicates it is a 96. I don't know if it's something that was done later in the year or not. Doesn't bother me to much, I've got some good driving lamps, besides from what I understand if the HID blub goes you're looking at serious money to replace it.
