New personal best

Well the last week has been interesting. Saturday we left CA (hopefully for good) and drove across the country in 5 days. It could have been faster but we had 2 cars, 2 kids, and 2 100 pound dogs, so we took our time. Made it to NC on Wednesday. Only problems were a bad throttle position sensor and a bad O2 sensor. Replaced the TPS in Arkansas and had the O2 replaced on Thursday, so Friday night was street legal drags at the local track.

Ran a personal best!

RT--------0.0409
60 ft------2.1689
330 ft-----6.1929
1/8 et-----9.4449
1/8 mph---75.89
1/4 et-----14.6318
1/4 mph---96.13

My last 3 runs were all 14.6xxx so it was pretty consistent. I'm not really sure how to decipher a time slip so any input is appreciated. Its great to be back on the right coast!

Congrats on a new best. Hard to decipher the timeslip without knowing what mods are on the car but everything looks solid for a mid 14 second car. The 60 foot is good, and it gained 20+ MPH between the 1/8th and 1/4 mile which is also good.

Mods are 4.10's with TL, X-pipe and flowmasters, jmod, cobra intake, and X3 by Lonnie at BOC.
I ran it stock at the same track a few years ago and it would average 15.5 so a 0.9 sec gain is pretty good I think for the mods I have.

I think I will be throwing some money at it in the future, wanna run in the 13's!

I almost forgot how much fun racing was.

What tires are you using?

If you aren't running headers, consider it. That will allow the intake to uncork the car even further. A high stall converter should be worth ~ 3-4 tenths. Up your shift points with the car if you haven't already. With my car the intake wasn't working its magic until I decided to go beyond 6500 rpms. If you aren't running sticky tires, you will need them.

Tires are Kumho ecsta or something like that, 245-50's. I forgot to pressure down to 20 lbs like I normally do so that probably hurt me some.

I'm going to get a new trans sometime in the future and probably a 2800 stall converter. I upped the shifts as much as I could with the X3 but its still below 6500 so maybe manually shift next time?

Headers are a good idea too, but they are a tad on the expensive side.

Thanks for all the good advice.

You said you want to run in the 13s and I was simply telling you what to do to give you a high likelihood of getting there. You're not going to like this but I'm going to say it anyways only because I am trying to help you with YOUR desires. A 2800 stall is not nearly aggressive enough, Kumho Ecstas will be spin city, you need to lose the log manifolds, and 6500 rpms shift points is shifting prematurely. Your Gen2 isn't going to be any different than the rest that are trying to run 13s. But either way, good luck.

So if 2800 isnt enough what would you suggest? I've never driven a car with a high stall converter so I have no idea what the difference is or what would make it less "streetable". I have seen one on the track and it seems to lose less RPM between gears, but as far as daily street driving I have no clue.

And yeah the kumho's suck traction wise.

From real-life experience, I have found Edge and Circle D to be very streetable and well-mannered converters. Remember also, tuning has came a long ways and this allows for much more control over converter behavior under light throttle and WOT conditions. With that said, you'd be surprised how stock these cars drive under light throttle with an aggressive stall. I've never made light throttle videos because it is that boring LOL I can putter through neighborhoods at 25mph with no signs to the outside bystanders that my car is nothing more than a Lincoln with exhaust. :)
