New Round These Parts...

Hello all. Newbie here...just wanted to introduce myself and get a little more familiar around here. My name is J and I recently picked up my very first Lincoln....a 1997 Mark VIII LSC. Beautiful car that has 170K on the clock. the ONLY thing I do NOT like about it is the OctaStar wheels! I'd much rather have the directionals. But, anywho, I am a DIYer who is not afraid to wrench. I plan to give her a full tune up & fluid change. She's already been converted to springs and I think I'm going to go ahead and tackle the dreaded blend door fix next week. It's a SC car, that being said, one of the cats have been removed. Other than that, this things growls like a lion. Gonna take her on a 5 hour road trip in the AM, so hopefully the gas mileage isn't bad.
Anyway, I hope to gain a LOT more information around here from you knowledgeable folks and hopefully make one of the meets...

Welcome! What color is it?

I look forward to hearing the results of your "shake down" cruise.

Welcome! Nice choice for a first Lincoln

I too like the directional wheels better than the Octastars but some people are crazy for them. I'm sure if they are in nice shape you could easily sell or trade them for directionals.

You're missing out on a true Mark ride with the coils... The air setup, although expensive to replace in it's entirety, holds up quick well as long as you stay on top of it. I got my car at a pretty good price and replaced the original 101K mile suspension with all new Ford stuff. The car rides like it's on air! ;)

Waiting for pics... :D

Welcome!

I'm about 3 hours East of you, in Columbia, SC.

My garage (and help) is always available to fellow forum members as long as they're willing to make the drive and as long as I have the day off from work.

I've done the blend door repair on 3 or 4 different cars now, and have whittled the completion time down to less than 2 hours. Let me know if you'd like any help with it!

Oh, and I've also got a set of silver 10-spoke directional wheels sitting in the garage that I'd love to get rid of....

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. Sorry tool so long to respond, but I work the graveyard in the resaurant business.

Greetings from Kennesaw, J! Best of luck with your Mark! :)
Thank you Sir. Ummmm, I am SOOOOOOOOO loving the look of your Lincoln with the Cobra-esque front bumper. How difficult of a mod was that? And are you boosted? Since you are local I will probably be seeking your advice a lot! LOL

Thank you for the welcome and your offer of help and space! I bought my car right outside of Columbia a few months back!

I'd love to have an original car. From what I understand, the air ride is soooooo smooth. I actually want to get another one! (lol hooked already)

nice write up if you need the info. J ( Jesse) did mine in 45 minutes.

Also, Welcome to LOD!!
Thank you as well. How in the world did he do it in 45? I was looking at a write-up on here about it and it looked like a 3 hour job!

Oh, and I am back home. Went from Atlanta, to Grenada, MS for my gma's funeral this past weekend. No issues with the car whatsoever. However, the gas mileage was a little lower than I expected. Guess a tune-up is in order...

Thanks. John Temple, LOD sponsor from Temple Performance Cars made the bumper and did all the work painting, modifying, and installing the bumper. Click on the link to learn more.

Yes, The Mark is supercharged. Click on this link for more info about the build. :)

Some metro Atlanta Mark owners get together for dinner once a month at Fat Matts Rib Shack usually the 2nd Wednesday of the month - (January 9, 2013 is the next gathering) at 6pm. You are more than welcome to join us. We have been doing this for many years. We also get together for outings and events around the area. Keep an eye on the events section for upcoming activities.

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you need help with your Mark. :)
