nology wires=bad

hey guys, i havent been here in quite a while. but anyways, i bought some nology wires a little over a year ago. And although they sound nice, up horsepower, and lifetime replacement. Have an extra(prefferably non nology) set on hand. The problems started when one of my sparkplugs popped out and would not go back. Had to get 2 wells helicoiled. The problem was that the spark was going through the boot casing and into the well walls. Thus not sending a spark to the chamber to start the gas on fire inside the chamber....sort of like hydro locking, only i was lucky and the spark plug and the threads just shot out. It happend on two of the plugs.
The mark sounded horrible that day. Like a giant air compressor.
today, i feel a little miss, so i decide to replace the pass side wire bank in hopes of it clearing up. I went to pull out the third wire and the wire came out. The boot stayed in, just sort of disconnected from the wire completely. haha. i have great luck. I get the boot out(keep in mind there is a connector that stayed put on the plug) so i devised a little hook to search dip in the well to get the connector out.
Also keep in mind that when nology says its a lifetime replacement, you have to send in all the wires to get new ones. So if your nologys fail, your SOL till you send them in and get new ones. And if you bought nology, why would you have other wires? I bought the nologys to replace my crappy old wires. Why would i keep the old crappy ones, or why would i need to buy new ones? lifetime replacement huh. They need it!

I will completely agree that Nology wires are junk and the supposed lifetime warranty only seems to apply if the wires are somehow cut in half. Like you I bought my set less than 2 years ago expecting them to last almost forever or why would they offer that warranty. Well a few months ago the car started bucking and stumbling and it turns out the wires are arcing to each other like crazy right through the rubber boots near the coil packs. Anytime there is the slightest bit of moisture under the hood (like when it's raining) there's lightning under there.

I did have my old set and put them on and sent in the nology set for replacement. I called them after a week and the guy tells me they tested the wires and they're fine?! I asked how did they test them and he tells me they put both ends on an ohm meter and there is still an electrical connection. Well that tells them nothing other than the wire is in one piece. I got no help from them and they sent the useless wires back to me.

Buy some Livewires from Supercoupe Performance. I've had good luck with them so far.

that sucks........especially after the what $300 price tag? Has anyone done a before and after dyno run with NEW stock wires and NEW nology's? I wouldn't buy them anyway, but it's one of those products where it really makes you wonder if it's a gimmic or real.......kind of like the tornado fuel saver!! :7 But we all know the tornado is a gimmic......well I hope so!

Um...you said your spark plug popped out? That isn't due to the spark going through the head, it's from lack of threads in the head and/or overtorquing the sparkplugs. Trust me, this has been a large topic of discussion on one of the local boards, and is a known problem.

mm and ffs did a dyno test with a stock 96 cobra with the new nology wires. they picked up from 5-10 hp to the wheels and the same with torque. doesnt nology = livewires? i thought they were called nology made the livewires?

Beware of magazine tests on products that advertise in the same magazine.
I remember Sam Memmolo and his cohort doing a before and after test of the tornado on an SS Impala. It showed an increase in hp. Do you believe it? I don't.

I did a before and after HP test with the Tornado. It gets you 1/2 HP...which is a lot less than the statistical error involved.

In other words, it does nothing...for our particular engine. But theoretically it wouldn't anyway. Hemi's (yes, our engines are of a Hemi variant design) already do very well in circulating air and swirling the air fuel mixture.

I would imagine that if the Tornado works at all (don't laugh, why do you think Vortech engines are called "Vortech"? It has a "Tornado" type design built into the manifold. Doesn't mean it works, only that GM has subscribed to the theory.), it would work in poorly designed motors.

As for the Nology wires, my Tazzo said I got 10 rwhp. I did five runs with and without. Unlike MSD, the Nology theory also makes more sense.

10 hp is letting the car cool down after a two hot back to back runs.... i dont belive in crap like that.... in my experiance any thing that has a life time warrenty usally needs it cause you have to send it back once a year for a new one...

The car engine was 180 during all runs. They took place in the middle of the day at 83 degrees.

In the opinion of this industrial engineer, the wires are legit.
