After years of looking and searching a set practically fell in my lap.
Gonna clean em up get new tires.
Any suggestions on what you guys feel are the best tires?
Both handling and ride.
Can't wait to put them on.
I wonder can i use the same lug nuts from my lacy rims?
As always thanks in advance.

Ha! Carlos is the man.

Congrats on the new wheels!

A couple tire experiences.
Historically, I've been fairly partial to Bridgestone/Firestone.

The last set I put on my Mark were Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS. They were fantastic. I can't recommend these enough.

The current set is Bridgestone Potenza RE97AS. They're some of the worst I've ever dealt with. They're rock hard, which I suppose is handy if you like burnouts.. They're easy. but they don't grip, and they don't balance..

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and offer a suggestion.
I shall try to locate these tires i usually deal with Town Fair tire in Connecticut right over the border.
If he does not stock he will gladly order them.
I like his way of thinking he is old school the customer is always right.
Not like other chain stores that push you towards what they have in stock or what they make the larger profit on.
Best Regards
Tony

I hope that they can find them, and they treat you as well as they've treated me.

I just looked them up again, and noticed that they make two versions of the RE960AS now, one being the "RFT" (run flat.) but the reviews of even that one, seem favorable. This video covers both.

Maybe the others will chime in, but I've also heard good things about Michelin Pilot, and Kumho Ecsta, but I assume both of those have their own sub-variants as well. I'm not as familiar with these.

the Kumho Ecsta 4X is pretty decent tire.
i have Cooper Zeon RS3-A tires right now, and i like these.
the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 seems to be decent as well, but is a summer tire.

Continental is also a quality brand.

Mark my Bird!
Kumho and Hankook have some pretty good tires at great price point. I don't have experience with either of them on my Mark though.

I've got a couple of sets of the General Altimax tires on my Mark VIII's they seem to be a good tire. I bought a set of Michelin Defenders for the green one, they are probably the softest riding tires I've ever had on a Mark VIII, a bit pricey though.

You can use the regular open end acorn lug nuts that came with the lacey spoke snowflakes, you can also use the capped acorn lug nuts that come with the 10 spokes if you have those.

Thanks Bill appreciate the tire suggestions and especially the answer on the lug nuts.
No one was able to give me an answer at the tire shop!
Joe at the tire place suggested the Generals as well.
I get on my Mark sometimes in the turns or on a straight strip of highway.
He said as long as i don't floor it at every light they would be fine.
How are they in the rain.
My girl always manages to get her tail sideways when it rains.
Thanks again

I guess they are as good as other tires on Mark VIII's in the rain, they all seem to break loose in the back if you do too much spirited driving.:)

Got the rims today very happy with them thanks Race Bronco2.
I really appreciated all of your suggestions.
But because of time constraints ( couldn't wait for them to order had to see the wheels on the car today LOL)
I went with a GoodYear Touring tire Allegra i think its called.
I punished them on the way home.
They took all i gave them and where ready for more.
They where also reasonably priced for an H rated tire A traction tire.
Snapped a couple of quick camera pics for the insurance company.
I did that in a hurry to.
But i think you will get the idea.
Regards
Tony

The photo isn't showing up for me, but I suspect that's a malfunction on my end.

I'm glad you've got a great combination. We'll have to add the Allegra to the "good to go" list!

Give up?

Believe it or not they don't rub when turning just clear the front struts.
The lip on the back quarters just rubs the tire when coming out of driveways and turning sharply.
Noting a pair of vice grips and hammer can't fix.
Gently bend the lip up and flatten it out on the inside inner fender.
No more rub and the best part besides not having to buy new tires for a winter only use car.
It now has class for a 21 year old car.
And it rides just like a Lincoln!
