Opinions on EBC Greenstuff?

Or: "Logres, where have you gone??"

Late last night into the wee hours of the morning as I am compiling shopping carts for front end bits, I was looking into peoples' opinions of different brake pads. I think the most glowing review was logres' opinions of his Greenstuffs, but the funny thing was early on when he first tried them, he was far from impressed. From what I gathered, he had them on a car briefly before it was wrecked, but was underwhelmed, possibly because they were in the bed-in period. Then somewhere later down the line he had them again (with Eric's favorite cryogenic rotors "discussions" :D ) and absolutely raved about them.

I'm about to pull the trigger on Greenstuffs and Brembo front rotors on partsgeek.com for about $117 after shipping, but am wondering if anyone else has thoughts on them, or this combination in general. The reason I am going this deep into my pockets for front pads is I plan on plenty of higher speed driving and it is important to me to have the best performing pad for the money, especially with a car of this size. If they eat into the rotors, so be it; the Brembos are cheap to replace, and I would still like to do a Cobra setup down the road, probably if/when the hub bearings fail and I have money saved up already for wheels/tires. Maybe Hawk HPS pads are a better alternative?

Ive never had them on a car as heavy as the mark, but I usta run them on my autocross subaru. they have great bite a little noise but not bad. I woud go through 3 set of rotors per 2 set of pads. just to give you a idea.

A couple other forums seemed to say the Hawks HPS pad is actually more on par with the Redstuff, which may or may not exist for our stock brakes, but either way cost 2x the HPS...

I have red stuff pads on my Mark, and on my Mercedes SL320. Low dust! I autocross the SL320, and the pads work great in the stopping department.

I have the front Cobra R Mustang Brembo calipers and Baer EradiSpeed+1 rotors all around on The Mark, and they make red stuff pads for this set up for the fronts only.

I think I have green stuff, or regular normal pads for the stock calipers with Ed's extenders on the rear, because like you said, they do not make red stuff pads for stock caliper Mark's.

I think at the time I was doing The Mark's brake conversion a few years ago, I could not even find ceramic pads made for the rears on a stock caliper Mark.

Points taken, Mike, but Redstuffs are obviously out. Even if I got a pair to work, they are cost prohibitive to me at this point. I forget the model # that is said to work (unofficialy) but it wouldn't matter as I'm not yet in a position to drop $120 on front pads.

I love the greenstuffs on my Mark, stop great but frozen rotors are a pretty much a must, looking to get some now. I currently have the kvr drilled rotors witch scp claims wont warp unless abused, they warpped in under 1000 miles :/

On that note, besides frozenrotors.com is there another place to buy them? I like to shop around.

Edit:
i noticed partgeek.com has Centric brand cryo slotted fronts for $90 apiece, can anyone attest to the quality?

Those would be neat. I'm all set with sissy drilled rotors. But let me tell you, I would love love LOVE to get my old Mazdaspeed's setup onto this car. But they would be no less expensive I'm sure as a cobra upgrade. I put 55k onto the original brakes and they looked good as new when the car went away. Even the pads had a ton of meat left. And holy crap did they stop good, the car weighed about 3650 lbs and it would EASILY stop on a dime.

I went with the Hawk HPS pads up front since they were about half the price as greenstuffs and are SAID to be on par with Redstuffs. Low dust and everything. So far they bite very hard. :)

Did a little poking around, looks like Centric is/was owned by StopTech and shares a lot of technology, I just ordered some slotted frozen ones from partsgeek.com, for $90 apiece (best price I could find), free shipping. Will update.

Got the rotors, fast free shipping from parts geek, so far so good, even been through the rain.
I did notice the greenstuffs are getting low on meat, gonna try the Hawk hps pads next.

Any place to buy them besides parts geek? (i like to shop around).

yeah, even a google search of the part number will only turn up partsgeek, so I ordered them there.

Got the Hawk pads installed. I can attest that they are in fact better at stopping than the greenstuffs.

Well, longevity and hard on the rotors they are may become a factor also.
