safety recall for the fuel pump

Ford Motor Company is recalling 465,000 vehicles worldwide after finding a defect in the fuel lines that could cause a fire.

The automotive giant announced the recall Monday, which includes the following 2013 Ford models:

Ford Fusion, Flex, Explorer, Taurus, Interceptor Sedan and Interceptor Utility, as well as the 2013 Lincoln MKZ, MKS and MKT.

A representative for Ford said in a statement that the company received information from customers of smelling gas or seeing a leak on the ground.

Ford said it had received 600 complaints about the fuel leak as of March 31 but had no known reports of fires, accidents or injuries attributed to the defect.

For those with vehicles affected by the recall, Ford will replace the fuel delivery module.

Owners of the vehicles will receive a letter in July advising them of the recall. A second letter will go out in September as parts become available. In the meantime, owners can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.

No specific date has been set for the recall because “there are a limited number of parts available for vehicles that develop a fuel delivery module leak,” according to the recall notice.

Ok, now that the matter is been resolved this is the whole story behind the Expedition.

When i bought the FLEX I was handed an envelope at the time of sale that was missing some receipts/documentation that i did notice until i got home. I got a "new" demo car.

So the next day i go there to give them the title of my trade-in and ask for my paper work, in the mean time i say that it needs new wipers, I say you sold me a car "as new" and the wipers are used (rained on way home the previous night and they streaked). And I said your windshield sticker says the oil change is due tomorrow. So they take me over to service, service said oil was done not that long ago when the owners wife got her new demo, and that wipers are not covered under warranty. In the mean time my sales guy was out on a test ride and i did not have time to hang around for the documentation, i had to go back to get registration so i said i will be back for it.

So they call me the next day and ask if i got an inspection sticker on the car. I said no, and i said i read the warranty and the wipers are covered for 6 months, so they were going to give them to me.

So about 2 weeks later i go to get my registration after work when it is reedy and no one is there. Sales, finance guy are off and service is closed. Sales kids calls sales guy, said they will take car of it, I said just mail me every thing.

A week goes by nothing, so there is a ford customer service contact on the Flex forum i am on, they deal with service issues only and not sales but said they would try to help me. My regional CSM calls sales guy twice to get my documentation, left voice mail and got no reply.

So i file a complaint with BBB. A few days later BBB complaint goes to owner, sales manager calls me. They will take care of every thing.

They picked up my car on Monday at my house and left me an XL Expedition as a loner, and copies of my documentation.

I discover that my signature was forged on some vin etching insurance i never saw and now there is a line item for the etching for $299 and tax was added on. :mad-tilt:
This was at night, so i sleep on it and i think the best thing is to ask to speak to the owner and let him know. I left VM for him yesterday since he was not in.

He calls me today I tell him what happened and he was not happy since he was stealing from him as well since on a demo the full price goes to the dealership with no commissions. But the sales and fiance guy do make money on the vin etching. I said i like the money for the vin etching that i was not aware of, he said he would look into it and get back to me.

So they did oil change, tire rotation, new wiper blades, even put on mud guards i bought (no charge). In addition preformed a recall on the fuel pump that needed to be done.

So this afternoon the sales manger just bought my Flex back all nice and clean and gave me check for $320. Now i am satisfied.

I can't believe it. Talk about awful service.
Not the dealership as a whole they just had bad employee(s). Per the sales manger they are now doing an internal audit just to see if there are more issues like mine, if so they may bring charges, i said i would be a witness if they needed my help. I could have brought charges as well since forgery is a felony is all 50 states. But they stepped up to the plate and corrected the situation, in the end I did not have anything in damages so I left it up to them to deal with.

Impressive. I'm very surprised that they'd go so far as to forge your signature on something. Of course I didn't know that "VIN Etching" was a thing until just now.. had to Google that one.. :D

They did it to my Lincoln back in 97, the etching was on there when i bought the car. It is something that Ford offers now http://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/ESPAdditionalPlans&planName=EtchCARE
Something like gap insurance if you car gets stolen, so mostly not worth it unless you live in a bad area.

So I looked at those pictures of the car for about 30 seconds, thinking "it looks pretty much the same.." then it hit me.

Damn! Where'd that house come from!

Congratulations!
