I have a lot of downed trees in the back of my property, including an oak tree. So i will start to harvest that for next year. In addition i have some pruning of large branches and small trees that i will do once all the leaves are off. I will put that wood on those 2x4 ladder looking things i have on that crushed stone pad so it can get seasoned for the next year and year after that.

The price of natural gas is low now here, so my payback on my set up may take longer. But I like doing it and it is good exercise. I would speculate that NG won't alway stay low and down the road burning the wood will pay dividends. In addition when i burn my insert the house is warmer then i would normally set the t-stat at. :)

Steve, you must have some major "guns" after choppin all that wood.
I would've hoped he used a log splitter  I know I did :D
Yea, i have a Stihl chain saw and a 7 ton hydraulic electric splitter. I do have an ax as well that gets a little use. However the splitter is very heavy so it is a work out to push it up to the log pad from my shed, and some of those large cut logs are heavy as well lol

He's a nice one! Either a Cooper's Hawk, or a Red-Tailed Hawk, or something else down there in Florida!

ADDED: But then again I don't see a red-tail on that guy.
