I have a lot of downed trees in the back of my property, including an oak tree. So i will start to harvest that for next year. In addition i have some pruning of large branches and small trees that i will do once all the leaves are off. I will put that wood on those 2x4 ladder looking things i have on that crushed stone pad so it can get seasoned for the next year and year after that.
The price of natural gas is low now here, so my payback on my set up may take longer. But I like doing it and it is good exercise. I would speculate that NG won't alway stay low and down the road burning the wood will pay dividends. In addition when i burn my insert the house is warmer then i would normally set the t-stat at.
