I didn't take this picture but I found out about it today! I was playing around with Google Maps and happened upon the Coney Island/diner place that I'm a regular at just down the road from my house. The owner aren't Greek but they're good Albanian Catholics who serve HUMONGOUS portions of everything and the food is fantastic! Take a look at my 97 LSC at the foot of the sign in the parking lot! Usually I park in the spot just to the left but there was a pickup truck there. It was taken sometime around May or June, I was getting a carryout salad with greens, lots of cheddar cheese and grilled chicken with ranch!

The cat was actually just yawning in that shot, I took a shot first with a flash, then, I turned off the flash and got the yawn shot.:smile-purple:

I don't wanna brag... (or seem like an even bigger alcoholic then we all already know I am)
but the last time I had real legit shine, I was terribly disappointed with how strong it was...
I thought it was going to be at least 100+ proof... I was expecting to drink a jar and be pretty hammered... but I think it was probably closer to 40 proof... :frown:
Everytime someone took a drink and then did a big over exaggerated "whoa"... I had a hard time not punching them in the face...

Allot of times it is cut with juice or water to weaken it. I am surprised you did not sample it on NYE. Both are gone now, but I still had some of my pure shine from Kentucky which was straight from the still. It was easily over 150 proof and burned accordingly. It is not really a sippable liquid, more for very fast shots. I also had some that was cut with apple juice which was easily under 80 proof and easily drinkable. The stuff you see at the stores labeled as shine is pretty much the same thing or at least it smells/taste the same, but is usually only 80 proof. Regardless, it truly tastes better when made illegally by toothless people. We celebrated our first anniversary this weekend, went up to Duluth MN to go white water rafting but were not able to go because of other circumstances. But we still had fun and went hiking up at Split Rock Lighthouse along Lake Superior per tixer's suggestion. Nice hike, but a bit longer than we expected but fun. She also made me carry 25lbs of rocks for her garden in my back pack through most of the hike, true love right there .

Bingo. The jar of straight shine is right at 160 proof, and it gives a good burn as it goes down. The other jars in the pic are mixed with distilled water, fruit, and sugar to 80-100 proof (some flavors cover a stronger mix better than others) so that my friends will actually drink them. We'll see what's left here after the STL TBU crew invades my place this Saturday night.
