(Lousy hippies.) How was the craft beer up that way? I know that Anchor Steam is excellent, but I'm not familiar with much else out there. Except maybe Stone, if that's where they're located as well....

So not specifically today, but over the weekend..

A buddy and I went up to Thunder Bay in Canada, and climbed to the top of "The Sleeping Giant."

The highest point on The Giant is about 220 meters above the water.

These sheer cliffs drop nearly to the water-line. Far more intimidating in person than this photo would lend one to believe.

The photos above with the steep cliffs, should have been taken right about where the arrow is, at "the knees." The photo with me standing on the precipice, would a bit to the right. "the middle of the chest" or so..

Edit: the black blob in the upper-right corner of that last photo would be my mitten, because it was raining, and near freezing when that photo was taken.

JP, Wow. Yes. That is now on my "to do" list.. :D
I checked it off my list several times. :p

We used to campout and hike up the back side, long before they built a visitors center, a bridge, a trail, steps and an observation platform.

The very highest "tip" was maybe 4-6 feet wide!

Drove down the coast today to Monterey Bay/Pebble Beach. Unfortunately there wasn't any car shows going on. :)

Mostly, I was too lazy to go to google and type in "220 meters to feet" and post the answer.

Although since then, I've done it for a co-worker. it was 721 feet above Lake Superior. :D.

The best part was when the border security lady was taken aback by the fact that we were camping. "it's going to be almost zero degrees!!" which was a surprise to me, until I remembered that her "zero" was far different from my own..

A yard project, prepping any area that is level where the previous home owners had an above ground pool. Plan to put a play set there for the kids some time in the not so distant future.

Before

During, had the landscaper do the heavy work

After

Aimee and I put down weed blocker fabric, then the stones from around the yard, then planted some shrubs (those things are expensive), we had to stick to things that deer don't like.

I did some seeding, took a while with no rain for two weeks and a cold spell, but today it is looking good

There was some pretty neat racing of the America's cup out there 2 weeks ago. 50 MPH on a blow boat is really hauling.
