Congrats Eric! Now all the pain your wife was going through before the actual pregnancy has served a beautiful purpose. Women are tough as nails!

On a side note, are you still "in trouble"? :p

That's great Eric. Congrats are certainly in order. It seems like yesterday when my kids were born. Now my oldest is 36 and my youngest is 30. They do grow up fast. I miss those early days with my kids. Now it's just me and my wife.

I'm still in a bit of shock that this is real. I'm trying to at least spend the next two weeks at home to take it all in.

What plane am I building?

First flight in 1945.

DC-3 ?
Very nice whatever it's going to be
I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out the plane myself. I even scoured Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1945_in_aviation#First_flights

None of those look right to me though. Low wings.. Horizontal stabilizer that mounts below and to the rear of the tail. and has that gentle slop up to the tail on the back.

I kind of assumed it would be the "Allies," but still came up empty.

The closest I can come up with is the Douglas XTB2D "Skypirate," predecessor to the A-1. I'm not entirely convinced though.
It's the A-1 Skyraider.

You can see a smaller version on the garage floor.

Just an FYI, the seats were $380/pair shipped. Compare that to comfortable Sparco seat prices. Way more money for those and of course heavier. I must say I was simply impressed with how comfortable these seats are for the price and only weighing in at 12# each. These definitely beat most seats out there for comfort vs cost vs weight. If I recall correctly, the bare bones aluminum Kirkey seats are around the same weight as these but those are like sitting on a pop can shaped like a seat. These seats actually have removable cushions that are attached with velcro which are the inserts that you can see on them in the picture. Maybe I could actually get someone to ride with me now. BUT you'll still need earplugs.

The rear cobra hubs are low mile takeoffs that I got for $150 for the pair with hub nuts included. So all in all I'm saving here and spending there. That's the name of the game so far. My fuel pressure regulator alone costed me almost as much as both of my seats. lol
