Radial Pull

I've got a tire that has this, it causes the steering to pull to one side. Actually, mine is more of a push, the car pulls to the opposite side of the bad tire.

It's pretty bad. I first noticed it when I did a front end alignment in the spring, and I tweaked the camber a bit to adjust it out. It seems to have gotten worse through the summer, to where I'm not going to use it anymore.

The tire is only a few years old, and has about 10K miles at the most.

Does anyone know what causes this? If it was a broken belt, it would shake, but the car is smooth as can be.

I am curious too because one of my Miata's had this problem. Before the new tires the car pulled hard to the left; however with new tires it pulls ever so slightly to the right. It is so slight that now that it depends on which lane I drive in.

Did you try swapping in a tire from a different car to see if the problem goes away? I bought a set of those same generals. I was at a friends house earlier this year swapping arround our tires between different wheels. He noticed the sidewalls on thoose things are only 1-ply and very flimsy compared to the Bridgestones we normally buy. probably explains some of the $50 price difference.

Oh, yeah, I'm always swapping wheels. I had these 20 spokes and tires on the 97 for a while this spring, that's when I first noticed the pull. I put them on the 94 and the pull went with them.:)

Then I swapped the front left and right on the 94, the pull changed sides.

Then, I took my control tire (good 20 spoke full sized spare) and swapped it with the front right and left to narrow down which one was causing it. It was the left.:(

I was hoping you were going to say you had a general with the pull. We could have put them on one car, and have them fight each other straight.:big-grin:
