Actually, the ice did it. We've had no postal service or newspapers delivered since Thursday, Dec 5th.

The good news is we've had no power disruptions (knock on wood.)

I could use some of that.

I don't get it, the Postal Service complains they are loosing volume due to email and the internet. I disagree, if I gauge by my mailbox, there's more junk mail than ever.

Well, the US mail came today.

What surprised me was that we got a regularly scheduled Ozarka water delivery. The Ozarka guy left his truck on the street and used a two-wheeler to hump the three, 5 gallon bottles to where I had the empties sitting on the car pad. We're about 150 feet away from the road.

Now I gotta figure out a way to get the bottles inside -- without killing myself in the process.

What is the freezing temperature of a 5 gallon jug of pure spring water?

Might be slightly above 32F...

The water in my neighborhood taste like dirt, so it comes out of the faucet through a Pure whatever filter, and then I run that through a giant Brita dispenser... that duel filtered water seems to freeze around 35+ (as the fridge can freeze it, and I have no idea what the numbers 1-12 are supposed to signify as cooling options...(( I think I'm at 8))

Also, if you take the water filter in my magic 1 button coffee occurring device, by the time water turns into coffee... it's been filtered thrice :D

This is the filter i use, works great, 2 filters you change every 6 months and 1 filter every year, if you have a sink sprayer you can swap it for this in a rental house. http://www.amazon.com/Watts-Premier...s=Premier+UF3+3-stage+Ultra+Filtration+System

No mail service yesterday. The school district has been closed since Friday. No newspapers since Friday. I just got notification from UPS that I should not hold my breath for my scheduled delivery for today.

Wow. Are you snowed/frozen in yourself? Adequately supplied? Obviously whatever heroic fix was recently performed on your Internet connection is holding up nicely, so that's good..

We're fine. The internet fix has worked fine all this time. It looks like the band-aid held.

Actually, the wife went to work yesterday, at 1000, instead of at dark-thirty. She reported our drive way was worse than the farm to market country roads, which was worse than the state highways. The Interstate was grooved enough to worry about the bottom of the Fusion scraping ice in the center between the "tracks". One interesting fact: the garage had so much ice on the roof, the powered 16 foot garage doors would not close all the way. After a full day of sun and 45 degrees, the roof ice melted enough to allow the doors to fully close.

We got mail, Monday and Wednesday morning Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspapers.

It froze over-night. But the garage doors still work. The wife had a 0700 conference, so she left at dark-thirty and made it OK. The interstate was fairly clear of ice, she reported. She drove the MKZ.

The UPS shipment is "exception"ed. The last tracking entry was Fort Worth. I'm still waiting.
