Rare Opportunity to Own Mark VIII Artwork!!!

The invite is put out to my California peeps, but this is such a killer opportunity, we'll pick up anyone at the Burbank or LAX airport who wants to join us. This situation makes me tingly and very sad at the same time.

Alright, Mark VIII Enthusiasts! Something amazing just happened that I must share. The artist of this 18 x 24 painting and I have been in touch about its duplication for those who are interested. He's an architectural artist by trade and creates those amazing renderings of buildings before they are contructed. It turns out that he is an avid Lincoln fan and car collector and lives in Sherman Oaks. He loves Mark VIIIs and said that he always wanted to drive one, so I said we'd have to let him know when we had a club event in LA. He offered for us to come and see his car and art collection, but we must do so relatively soon because he has an inoperable brain stem tumor. He hasn't given up hope and is on an experimental drug, but the odds are against him.

So, I need two things from you guys, a price that you'd be willing to pay for a signed piece of this amazing artwork that he says will be printed on super heavyweight water color paper and won't be distinguishable from the original... and when can we get together and go see this amazing guy!!!!! He's going to Havasu this weekend to fly model planes with his buddies... he also paints planes... but is free after that.

Beautiful!

Sadly, that seems to be a dying art. It used to be common in car ads in magazines.

Does he have a Gen 1 Mark VIII version?:)

All of those illustrations are fantastic and I'd be proud to display them in my den. The guy does have talent; I'm very sorry to hear of his poor health.

The thing about many of us Mark VIII owners is we tend to be poor or just plain cheap, although there are some notable exceptions... hehe. I wouldn't even want to venture a guess because I have no clue what it costs to produce high quality prints, so either I'll look like a fool or end up insulting the guy.

A raffle might be a good idea though, but I might still be interested in a full set if the price is reasonable.

That is really beautiful work.

I think if I had to pick only one, this would be it:

And then the Mark VIII, and then the Mark VII, and then the one with the limo and then....

Like Mark though, I have no idea what art of this quality would go for.

It looks like LA is about a 2000 mile drive for me, or about a $500 flight. Probably not really practical for me at the moment, particularly just coming back from another trip. I'd love a chance to see a private collection though, and LA as well, for that matter. (I've never been there.) Please keep us posted on dates if this starts to come together. I might just need a bit more arm twisting. :)

I too am sorry for his health ! That is depressing I wish him the best luck. !!!

I too would not want to insult the man for a price. But I would start with a 100.00 price and lets see from there.
Lets see guys !!
Obviously I would be interested in the Mark VIII one.

Has he sold prints before? Not sure if he would need to get licensing from Ford as well.

After doing some research on other prints that he has sold, $100 should be about right. He has sold many prints before and I would certainly leave any licensing issues to him. I would imagine a signed version may also be a bit more. I think $100 is a very fair offer and I will take it to him on Monday. All he can do is say no! I was also giving thought to a smaller size as well in order to get some more people involved. You are all correct though. Many of us are pinched when it comes to extra fundage right now, but this does feel like a very fleeting opportunity.

As to visiting him and his collection, I'm afraid to wait too long in case his health rapidly declines. I won't drive my girl in the weather and we have a wintery hill to cross to get to LA sometimes. I'll keep checking back and let you know what my California friends are thinking. Thanks for the input, guys! It is much appreciated.

I'm only 20 miles from Sherman Oaks, and have a very nice Gen I if he needs a model to draw :wink2-green

This is definitely some cool stuff (of course on the opposite coast again...) I would love to be there, see his collection and purchase some of his art. I have some Thunderbird stuff from back in the day but that was before I had a house and two kids... :)

Here we go guys.

Folks, I just got off the phone with Mr. Mytar... and he still sings the Mark VIII praises every time! He has accepted our offer of $100/print in the original size (18 x 24) SIGNED!!! He wants to meet with us on Sunday morning at 11A on December 8th. He is doing well with his cancer, but says he doesn't plan much in advance these days. This is honestly a chance of a lifetime to spend with an amazing person who is more interested in having his artwork out there than it dying on his wall. He will sign these prints in person!!!!

Time to seriously think about spending time with an amazing artist whose craft is a dying art and also with one who has a long love affair with the Lincoln Mark VIII. Step up and lets knock Mr. Mytar out with some serious Mark VIII presence!!!!

$100 for signed, one-of-a-kind Mark VIII artwork. I need a commitment within the next few days as he's going to his printer.

I am stunned and humbled by his gratiousness. Let's please show some California MARK VIII Addicts Pride and do this RIGHT.

So are the choices the ones in your first post? Also will this be a limited run, e.g. will he sign the prints 1 of 100?
I am hard to get a Christmas gift for so this may be something i can suggest for me :wink2-green

Count me in, but unfortunately, I will not be able to be there in person.

Is there a way to PayPal Mr. Mytar, and he ship the print to me?

Hey, Mike! He said that he only does business the old fashioned way, but I would be happy to get the print for you and send it. I can take Paypal. That way he doesn't have to deal with shipping. Will that work for you?

Hi, Steve. I am the only person who has ever asked him to duplicate the artwork, so I'd say it's a limited run! This is for the Mark VIIIs only in 18 x 24" size which is the original. I was thinking about asking him of he wanted to do something like 1 of 100, but there's probably fewer than ten of us buying the artwork. I will probably be taking Paypal for him and bringing cash or I guess I have time to take checks made out to him with me and then do the shipping.

I'm in for sure for the Mark VIII one. If he were doing the Continental one I pointed out above, I'd almost have to do that in addition. It really speaks to me. If we're only doing the Marks, it's probably better.. :D

This also is assuming you would be willing to ship it to me in Minnesota (which I would of course, pay for.) as it is unlikely that I'll be able to meet this gentleman in person.
