Has anyone had any experience with re-chroming the grill or lower headlight strips on Mark VIII Gen II (1998) The chrome is coming off of mine leaving the black below it.

Since it's not really chrome and the pieces are plastic, you would be best served by replacements.

There are a couple plastic powder coatings that resemble chrome but I have no experience with them.

One of the shows on speed (Can't remember which, sorry) had a liquid that you just poured on plastic to simulate chrome. Leno was talking about it.

I seem to recall reading in the propaganda that was released at the time that the plating on the grill was some sort of special coating that could withstand the elements better than standard plating because it was flexible. I can assure you that regular vacuum plated chrome would never be able to stand up to the weather and road debris. It's definitely cheaper to buy a good used one.
