Rear shocks replacement went wrong

Hello!

I've replaced rear shocks in my LSC few days ago, but while doing this I did one thing wrong and now I wonder if I haven't mess up anything.

I removed upper shock mount nuts on the left side and stared to lift the rear of the car to remove the wheel and gain access to the lower shock bolt. I completly forgot that now only the stabilizer link holds the lower control arm and that's the reason the wheel is still on the ground. I found it out when I looked under the car and noticed rear air spring is almost completly unfolded.

Now I'm a little worried that the whole rear suspension shouldn't travel so far and I hope it didn't hurt the half shaft or CV joints? What do you guys think?

I did the other side in correct way :)

Looking at the air bag, the fold should be over the bottom housing and even all around. If it was folded incorrectly, you would visibly see it folded to the inside on one side and outside on the opposite side. If the bag was never deflated, it is highly unlikely it folded improperly. It would be pretty obvious comparing it to the other side.

The air bag may fold improperly only if the air spring is fully deflated with the suspension unloaded and then the suspension is loaded before any air is in the air spring.

The bag looks good, thanks for help Driller :)

So, nothing wrong will happen to any suspension or drivetrain components even if I'll lift it up to the point the bag will be completly unfolded? Like if the lower control arm will be actually hanging on unfloded bag, or maybe the air spring will break the mounting points and jump out of place? I'm just curious if it's designed this way.

The bottom of the air spring just snaps into the lower control arm. Chances are it would unsnap from the control arm long before it would pull apart or damage anything.

FYI, Just replace my shock yesterday and did not remove my wheel. Just get a short 18mm or 17mm socket and unbolt the bolt. It will come. Very easy.

I should have done it the same way :)

I istalled KYB GR2 shocks and it feels like Town Car now, so I'll be changing them again soon.
