Rear Shocks

Went into the garage to find the left rear shock has leaked out all it's shock juice. What are the groups replacement recommendations?

Thanks!

Consider me "tuned in" to this thread.. Mine are due to be swapped as well.

Generally, I hear two things - I'd be interested in the group's knowledge and experiences on both. (and any/all additional options.)

Monroe (of some kind. 5965?) suggested replacement, but softer.
Or the "Cobra Bilstein," which I suspect is this one? --> http://www.americanmuscle.com/bilstein-hdirs-shock-9904.html

I have put about 20k on my Billstines and I was happy with them but they are firmer than OEM ones.

I would like to upgrade to adjustable ones now that I have the Koni's up front

I've had experience with the Cobra Bilsteins and the Koni adjustable.

The Bilsteins were a stiffer ride than stock but considering the car still had OEM shocks, that was to be somewhat expected.

The Koni's were purchased from SuperCoupe Performance and they are still in service. The adjustability allows you to dial-in the ride you wish. It is perhaps an expensive option but you can be certain to get the ride quality you expect. Of course my preferred ride setting is the max setting for use at the track. ;)

I got a pretty good deal on the Monroes for $35 a pair shipped after I used my speed perks and a coupon code from Advance Auto. Also getting stainless upper shock mounts as well. Figured it would be a good time to replace them although the OEMs "look" nearly new. The OEM shocks "look nearly new" as well. I'll report back once they're in.

Don't suppose you have part number for the KYB? I'm thinking they may hit a good price-point..

part number 382 18035 469 just do a google they come right up.
I had the Tokicos in the back at first i like the kybs better.
I can still hammer the throttle but get that lincoln ride when i want it.
The Tokicos up front are the best strut IMHO.

Personally, I would get a set of Jays upper mounts and those will open up a whole new world of replacement shocks to you. It allowed me to swap to Cobra Bilstiens.

I went with the Bilsteins, I didn't think the ride was much stiffer. Found a nice set on a Cobra forum from a guy that upgraded a low mileage set.

Update:

Got the upper mounts from Jay and put them on the Monroes. Car rides nice. Easy job to do.

I have springs on the back not air bags. I thought my car was a bit soft with a trunk full of mulch and dirt bags so I made new mounts and put air shocks on. With about 35 pounds of pressure and just me and the 5 year old it rides good.
