Replacing the lincoln

The ideas coming into my mind more and more as things break, dont really know where to start but i since i like the uniqueness of the mark and the 2dr i was looking to the brz or 86, any other suggestions or advice on how to get a newer car, im young so its a little harder...

If any of this does work out i dont think i would even get rid of the car, probably just keep the car in the garage and give it to someone in the family who would take care of it

Do what I do when I'm bored. Fire up Craigslist, and plug in "$500 minimum, $1600 maximum" and then start fiddling with options. 4x4? wagon? manual?

start with like 2006 and newer, if you hope to make it a daily driver.

See if anything interesting pops up. :)

What i dont like about craigslist is that nobody seems to take care of their cars.

I have a 76 dodge that i trust but noone else thinks i should drive it, old rusty and no rubber on the suspension but it fires up right away provided the temps above 0

I browse classifieds almost every day just to see what's out there...as many of you know, I go through cars like socks.

I am really starting to think about buying another pick-up truck...older...OBD-I style for towing small trailers, runs to the big box building stores, etc.

I like to see what kind of deals are out there...I have prioritized my vehicles...at one point I had 4 cars...back-ups for daily drivers.
I had a Class C RV and a race truck too...sold the RV and one of the daily drivers for a 2500HD and an enclosed trailer.
then sold both of those AND the race truck...down to 2 cars...one if the dependable, comfy 4 door with pool-sized trunk...the Grand Marquis.
the other is "her" car...a Victory red Chevy HHR-SS. the SS gives her "need for speed" and "uniqueness" pleasure, has a ton of room in the back for large shopping excursions, room for both dogs and gets 30+ mpg.

while I miss the Mark VIII's I've had because of the "bang for buck" thing, they were getting harder and harder to find parts for, and insurance values are rock bottom (hitting a bird would probably total it)

the only way I'd buy another Mark VIII is if it was a Jeremi L built model, or a convertible.

The only other car I'd like for myself is a classic pre-smog/smog-exempt 70's station wagon like my 1973 Mercury Montego MX wagon I sold in 2005. I should have NEVER let that one go, and I look for it every weekend on Craigslist...I lost the guy's contact info to try to buy it back. It had 70k on it, slight custom touches, could win any car show it went to and drove like a brand new car. drat!!!! (kicking self again...and again.....and AGAIN)

If i was gonna get an older car i would get this
https://quadcities.craigslist.org/cto/d/oldsmobile-cutlass/6202815050.html

The more i look the less money i would have available so im looking at about 5k now. The only car i can see thats attractive enough is the s197 v6 mustang. I wont be going fast anymore really but maybe later in life. My friend got one as her first car and its worked out nice for her, aside from her own stupid stuff its held up at 180k miles

mk1 focus.
they are cheap, plentiful, and not bad to drive, albeit slow. svt is less slow.
my 02 SVT has 193k and counting. not pretty but an excellent daily.

With "LOD" Since 1997
Look for an old mans car, like a Buick, etc. Old guys take care of their cars, then they die and the estate sells them. Those type of cars depreciate a lot as well.

Panther....all day, son.
I only paid $4800 for my 2006 Grand Marquis with 97k.
needs gas, tires and oil....fluids done at 100k, then just DRIVE...
personally, I'd go 2002-2004 Crown Vic

My first car was an 03 Crown vic, we bought it for $600 and had to replace the tranny and some other things. We built the rest of the interior around me with a explorer center console, heated seats, and an overhead console, in the end me and the car just didn't really agree with each other and i sold it.

Cute car, but with 190k on the suspension, and "smokes when starts," I doubt you're a whole lot better off than the "devil you know" :)
