There was a reason.. Ford just lost sight of it.Glad to see Mercury go. There was no reason for them to exist. Now they can focus on Ford and Lincoln. Maybe they can make Lincoln a luxury brand again.
I guess now they can be Lincoln/Ford dealers, it was bound to happen. Mercurys were just rebadged Fords with a bit of an upgrade. It's bad news for the Lincoln dealers. The number of Lincolns sold is low, and they need another car to sell. That's why they are Lincoln/Mercury dealers.
I did forget about GeoCan't forget Geo!!!!
Wait, yes you can forget them.
Just heard that there is no more Mercury. It's going the way of so many other name plates.
Yes. It is timeI hope they finally pull the plug, enough of the re-badged cars already. Whats the point of Selling the Milan when its the same thing as a Fusion etc.
But that time has passed. You wouldn't be so quick to say that if you were around in the 50's cruising in a lead sled Merc.
I am not glad to see Mercury go, but..Glad to see Mercury go. There was no reason for them to exist. Now they can focus on Ford and Lincoln. Maybe they can make Lincoln a luxury brand again.
Agreed!!There was a reason.. Ford just lost sight of it.
So now we can badge the Ford's with LFC or LFS Instead of Mercury. LOLI guess now they can be Lincoln/Ford dealers, it was bound to happen. Mercurys were just rebadged Fords with a bit of an upgrade.
Maybe they are assuming Mercury shoppers will move up to Lincolns or down to Fords. It makes sense. Seems like every car company is cutting costs, and like Plymouth and Dodge looking the same, Mercury was just a re-badged Ford. IMHO. I am sure the people making the decisions are aware of the low Lincoln sales, and have a plan to remedy it, or at least attempt to remedy it.
Yes, Mercury had some nice cars. I like some of the differences between the Canadian and US models.Mercury 's been gone in Canada since 1999. Only the Grand Marquis was available (Crown Vic is only sold to fleets - taxi, police etc). All the Lincoln/Mercury dealers became Ford/Lincoln.
Never really missed the Milan, Sable or Mountaineer, but going back a few years, the Cyclone GT, Cougar XR7 and Eliminator, the original Marauder, and the Turnpike Cruiser were all pretty cool cars.
They also have Daihatsu and Subaru.last I heard, Toyota was at least three brands.
Toyota
Scion
Lexus
Did I miss something? or do I see some foreshadowing..
