Saving Lincoln

Interesting. I don't think a V10 engine in every Lincoln is necessary, but they certainly do need to spice things up a bit with some performance powerplants.

Surely, Ford management must know that they must revitalize Lincoln. they have made some interesting concept cars, but have not made any interesting production cars. They need some Lincoln enthusiasts in their design team, not just some European designers who just rehash old Lincoln design themes.

I dunno, european designers are doing pretty good with those Benz's BMW's and Audi's.

That may be true, but look at what the European designers Ford has hired have done for Lincoln - build impractical concepts that cannot be put into production.

At this point, I think the only reason Lincoln exists is that Ford is too ashamed to have to announce that they are officially killing it. Ford doesn't have the resources to do a complete product line overhaul at Lincoln like they did for Jag, or GM did for Caddy. I think a 300+ hp LS would be a minimum token gesture to get some excitement into the division in the absence of any real new product (not another fancy pickup, ho-hum). Think about it. The new '05 Mustang for $25K on the same platform as an LS can get a 300 hp 4.6 3v, but a 40K LS can't??? Why???

Sucks that Ford neither can do their own work, nor hire some legit folks. Seem like they got the short end of the stick both ways.

The new Mustang is on it's own platform. The original plan was to use the LS platform, but then they realized it was a POS so they went with a new one.

What they need to do, is restyle the Mustang, give it a 4v NA motor and IRS, tart up the interior a bit, and call it the Mark IX.

My thoughts exactly. That would kick some ass. I think a 5.4L DOHC would be pretty sweet, but no way Ford has the balls for that.
