Posted this I think in the wrong area first try, lets see how this goes.Bill at super coupe has the sultans of spark setup for 289.00, curious if it's worth it or anyone has a better route. Want to replace all and everything from Bill so far has been spot on, and last but not least off of his website what are some must haves for gen 2s?

.84 second reduction in 0-60 times just from SOS coils? I call BS on that one.
"Recent testing on a 1997 F-150 with the 5.4 concluded that the SOS Coils reduced 0-60 times by an average of .84 seconds compared to the stock coils." I'm guessing the stock coils were originals that were already on their last leg and had worn out spark plugs too that they replaced. That's the only way that statement is true.

I still can't figure out why people are so hung up on spark upgrades. It doesn't matter how much EXTRA spark you have, your engine only has so much air and fuel to burn and only needs so much spark. Extra spark doesn't make it burn faster, it's just wasted spark. Just like those spark plugs with the 4 prongs and the commercial shows this big fireball shooting out. NOT TRUE. Electricity takes the path of least resistance. We tested that in the shop one day and it always arced to one prong. One word, gimmick.

Rob, I should add that if you're just looking to replace your coils because it's time then I don't see a problem with the S.O.S. coils. They're a lil more expensive than some other after market systems but that's your call. :) Just don't expect any big performance gains.

Yeah not expecting any gains, just need to be replaced and was wondering if they were worth the extra.

I would like to know where these are made? I am switching to cops but heard under stress the cops don't perform as good as the old 2 coil pack set up.

The actual coil packs will do just fine. Its the boot you have to worry about. If ANY oil gets on them, they will expand and loose seal. Then you have spark jump/misfire. Also, don't put any dielectric grease on the wire coil inside. Just a very light coating on the inside of the boot.

I think that the stock COP coils are just fine. I bought a 2003 F350 which had a slight miss-fire on damp days. Not enough to set a CEL but definitely a miss-fire so I changed the plugs and the boots. When I pulled the old plugs and saw that the smallest spark gap was over 0.1" I couldn't believe the engine was running as well as it did. I installed a new set of plugs gapped at 0.040 cleaned the MAF and the engine runs smooth as glass. I think that the aftermarket are a waste of time unless you are replacing known bad coils.

For N/A yes stock cops are fine but hit engine with 20 pounds of boost and that changes.

watch out for cracks on the coil housing. I have an old post where i ripped one apart to show how they can get rusted inside with a small crack. Unfortunatly the pics no longer show in the post from 2007.
