Sequential brake light/turn signal?

Anyone remember seeing a electronic kit available to turn brake light into a Sequential brake/turn signal? It was a LONG time ago know. Was thinking of turning the Z's long trunk light into a sequential turn and brake system.

Don't think so...I believe it was designed for LED lights and was custom designed. I seem to remember that is also was installed in a modified 97 or 98 Mark VIII. What I really want are the electronic parts used for that install. I would have to modify my Z.

I can solder and follow schematics etc..... I know a resister from a cap. It has been 10 years since retired tho.... rusty.

I feel like I read somewhere that the "old school" sequential tail lights were operated by a motor with a cam, and three switches.. Occasionally the motor would die, and allow only one bulb of the bunch to function.

These days, I'd definitely go solid state, or maybe a series of mechanical relays, for fun (and simplicity) :)

WebElectric Products told me that unless I was willing to modify my trunk lights myself (Over 60 cuts & splices) and no warranty of course, that they can not help me. I COULD prob do that, but not willing to screw up the car if I mis-wired something along the way. I will continue looking altho I doesn't look promising.

60 splices seems like a heck of a lot.

I suddenly find myself inspired to investigate the trunk lighting in an MKZ.. Based upon that number, I assume the trunk light is comprised of 30 LEDs?

26 across each side..... plus 6 on each tail light outboard of the trunk. (Rear Fender) NOt only splicing, but also cutting circuit runs an PCB's. Don't want for me to be doing that anymore.

You need to get addressable LEDs, then it is just programming, none of this old school splice and solder :D

It would be cheaper to get someone who does it for a living, or one of these people that do the extreme Christmas light shows on their house, lol
