Shelter Logic tents crap

About 13 months ago, I put new covers on my Shelter Logic pole garages. 1 was a free replacement, and 1 I paid $200 for. Of course the warrantee is for 12 months. I talked to SL, and basicly what they said was sorry Charlie, you loose. But they tried to up sell me a cover for $570. I guess I'll make my own, it'll be cheaper for sure. I'll never buy any of their products again, and I hope none of you do, real crap.

Those type of portable shelters are not meant to last, why not look into getting a metal shelter / car port and be done with the tents.

I'd love to put a 3 car garage in the back. Anything that's not portable will be taxed here in CT (connetax). A real garage (wood) would cost about $40K +. My biggest hate is paying tax to those crooks. It's a part of life so we do it. Last year they came by and now charge me for some patio stones that have been tax free for over 17 years. My house value dropped $300, and my PU went up $300. Because of my military breaks, my house valued just over $100K, cost me $5K a year. I hate taxes, and politicians, but love my MK VIII's. When I hit the lotto, I'll build a big garage, hope it's in a different state. I'm just going to tarp the ripped one for this year, and worry about it next year. Both cars have $300 covers on them, so they will survive, but will I ??

What about if you park one of those large shipping containers back there. Sometimes I hear they go for real cheap.

I'm sure this town wouldn't allow it. I live in a city where the people that work for the city are idiots. It's the time of the year for local votes. Maybe things will change. I like the idea. I could fit 3 back there, and I'd have to buy more cars.

I've got the same canopy tent. Mine hasn't ripped yet but it does look like it will, like yours, at the weak spot where it's too tight at the frame bends.

I might get more life out of mine because mine isn't in the direct sun though.

The 1st one I got lasted 2years, a little patching, made it 3 years. These new ones can almost make it 1 year. Cheaper material. I thought of putting a horizontal piece of pvc right at the ribs, would relieve the pressure at the ribs, where it rips. The idea list, is getting longer than the time I got list. I'll patch it and get through the winter season.

What about treating it with UV protection, maybe some of the tent waterproofing stuff also have UV protectant.

Only leaks at the rips. Has some uv protection (they say), but I'm sure they downgraded the material, and they know it. I might get a good tarp that covers the top, and 1/2 way down the sides. I can tie it off to the wood base. It'll last longer than their crap. The cars are off the ground, and have 5 layer covers on them. Covers cost more than the tent. One year I rented storage for 2 cars, and it cost me $1000, and my insurance went up because they were not on my property. I'm $$ ahead, and the cars are protected. Next year the frames need a mod, and I'll find a company that makes sails for sailboats. They'll have the right material. More stuff for the "To Do list" Damn I keep loosing the list.

Get an enclosed trailer for each car, the city won't be able to call them permanent structures if they have wheels on them.

get the cars shrink-wrapped like many summer boats do. They can even add a zipper to get in and out of the car if you have moisture absorbers inside that you need to empty. You can store them on open trailers so they're off the ground.
