The engine in my '94 Conti is toast have a '94 Taurus SHO engine that can be bought cheap. Anyone have any experiance or suggestions on this type of swap? I'm sure the the basic longblock will fit...but would really like to keep the supercharger setup on the engine when I swap it in. Not sure what kind of computer problem this will create.

Thanks for the info in advance,

Kenny

I don't think it'll be an easy swap. I believe the SHO engine is made by yamaha, which may or may not present some extra problems.

OK, I give up on the SHO swap...too much to modify, but I have a line on a '90 T-bird SC engine that might be an easier swap what do you guys think??

Thanks,

Kenny

Well, I'm assuming this is too late of a response, but I just saw this post. To swap an SHO engine into your Continental should be fairly straight forward. The Continental basically rides on a slightly stretched Taurus frame, even the engine and transmission are the same. I'm no Taurus expert, but if nothing major changed in the Taurus that wasn't correspondingly change in the Conni, the swap should be decently easy. Really no different than putting a SHO engine in a non-SHO Taurus. The swap from the thunderbird would be a nightmare, however, you're talking about changing FWD into RWD. Hope this helps some.
