The 1.5 ton mini-split unit that I had in my garage died recently (after 6 years), so I had to find a replacement. I found a great deal ($1,031 shipped) on a SEER 18, ~2 ton, inverter technology, R410a unit from the same place that I purchased my original unit. Made in China, but distributed and warrantied by Fedders here in NJ.

Did the installation myself, of course.

If anyone (JP?) needs a mini-split, I'd recommend this one.

They also have a similar 1 ton SEER 20.6 unit for $735 shipped.

p.s. I just noticed that the date/time stamp on my camera is off by a month, this was done in July.

That's a very good deal. Did you charge it yourself?
It comes pre-charged for up to 25' of line. After installation, the lines need to be evacuated with a vacuum pump to remove any moisture. Then you simply turn a couple of valves on the exterior unit to release the charge.

What type of vacuum pump did you use?
That I didn't do myself, I had a local HVAC tech do it. It takes a 3-5 CFM vacuum pump and a R410a gauge set, which would have cost me more to buy than the $100 I was charged.
