Snow tires on Moose

All I can say is that SNOW TIRES ROCK!!! Moose got a new set of Dunlop Winter Radials last week and after yesterday's 14 inch snow storm the slushy roads and very steep hill and driveway to my house were no match for the tires. The difference is amazing... what the hell took me so long?

I just read that a lot of tire companies put silica (sand) into snow tires. People think that M&S means mud and snow, just bs to sell tires. A couple of bags of sand in the trunk helps also.

snow tires do work, i just can't justify them, i work from home and for the amount of times i need to drive in the snow i manage not to get stuck.

I've had 2 sets of snow tires so far. :)

The Mark VIII is great in the snow with snow tires.

I try to keep a full tank of gas, and I've got 2 full size spares in the trunk for extra weight and safety. :D

I found that I needed an aggressive tread tire in the front also, without the front end, on hard packed snow would slide out easily.

Alexander (RIP) the principle founder of LOD, would put snow tires on all 4 wheels, said it was great. He was a Dr, so he needed to get to the hospital when needed.

I too am a "snows all around" kind of guy. The difference it makes is truly incredible. My old Town Car would run circles around many SUVs in the snow..

When I worked for P&W I covered upper state New York and along the Great Lakes and always had the company cars setup with 4 snow tires on it. These were approved due to the rough driving in the winter months.

Both the TC and my little crap box have good snow tires on them. Albeit the TC handles way better then 90% of the cars out there today.

I've been running snows in the winter on my mark for around 10 years. Between that, a LSD, full tank of gas, and 100-200lbs of sand bags in the trunk it does pretty damn good for a big heavy RWD car.

I do have on all four, it's the only thing to do for efficient steering and braking.

I've been sold on snow tires since I put a set on my wife's old '96 Mustang 5 speed. It was a V6 so when I bought GT wheels for it I put performance snows (Michelin Alpin PA2) on the factory 15's. I could drive that car ANYWHERE, even would park it on a downgrade and would have no issue backing out with it. I still swear to this day it was better in the snow than my Explorer with all seasons on it.

I was reading some reports that were saying that a 2WD car with good snow tires can be better than a AWD car with regular tires.

With all the snow and ice we've been having Moose just laughs at the road conditions now. :D The transformation is nothing short of miraculous.
