so tonight after work I was heading home in the right eastbound lane when some guy in a dodge ram pickup truck turning left turned into me. i was going like 40mph at the time. My back end slid into a car stopped at the light destroying the front end of that car. here are some pics at night.. I'll take some more tomorrow during the day and see if they come out better. oh and I am fine. let me know if ya'll think this car is totaled

WoW, man, sorry to hear and see about it. I believe that is considered :totaled:. I unfortunately had a few recent accidents and the first one to the front of my car was also the result of a Dodge Ram. I'll tell ya, they don't like Marks. I was told that the total costs to repair the front end ( Hood, front bumper, headlights, grill) was over 4,000 from the insurance company. I don't know how.. but I ended up paying about $350 and the insurance paid for the rest.

I believe you should start searching the U.S. for a new Mark now... and just junk that car. That would be a handful to repair and the $$ may not just be worth it( although I'm sure the insurance would cover it most of it). Hope the best to ya. Good luck.

I feel your pain. The disgust just sits in your stomach and makes you feel like sh|t. Hope everthing works out. Just think if everything works out good, you can have a even better Mark VIII in your hands. with maybe a couple extra bucks for some nice mods.

ok so its totalled, I figured that much. I still have a 3900 personal loan on the thing so yea if I get money back for it which from the insurance company would be 4,300 kbb value I'd only have 400 bucks to buy another car. and yea i have no other money so I'm pretty much screwed. thats if I'll get any money considering I only had basic coverage.

Well that is partly correct. You are in debt now, and will have to be in debt again to get another car. The same thing would happen if you had full coverage since it was not your fault.

I do not see how you are screwed if you pay off your loan. If you got the last loan, you should be able to get another one. Back to square one except now a cheaper car can be purchased and your debt lowered if you like.

heres the thing, I have been telling myself for the longest time my next car will be a new one and I'd have the mark on the side to be my race car. I love the mark and all but I don't think I wanna get another used mark, I want a new car. actually tomm I'm gonna speak to a lawyer to see if I can pursue any suits, the whole right lane of the road was wet from the sprinklers and when I tried to stop I just slid on the wet pavement. so we'll see what happe

Well, the car will be totaled, but that doesn't mean you can't keep driving it. If you were in MI, you'd be screwed. We have no-fault insurance. I hope for your sake that your state does not have no-fault, and that the other driver is liable for the damage. In any case, if you aren't ready for a new car, buy that one back from the insurance company, find whatever parts you need in a junkyard (the window, for one, get some tools, and do your best impression of an auto body repairman. The car looks like it's still driveable, so if you just fix whatever you need to fix to open/close the door properly and keep the rain out, you don't need to get a new car right away.

I actaully have all the panels that you need in Green for that car except the drivers side fender and hood. Door, windows, ect... You could drive it around.

I can add nothing to the above, except to lend my "voice" to say, I am so sorry this happened to your "baby" and I feel your pain. THIS is the very reason that I don't drive my irreplacable show cars, much to the dismay of nosey neighbors. If I were you, I'd consult an attorney once just one consultation, to gain his insight in what would be the best course of action for you to persue in your particular situation.

Good luck, and thank the man above that you are unhurt physiclly.

What a shame... the oters are right, you could buy it backj from the insuranvce co and drive it with some new panels or part the car out, you may do quite well selling the parts.

Man sorry about your lose, I wish I would have gotten my green mark 8 out of the impound I would have gave you it. anyways what kind of rims are those

Those are actually my neighbors rims just on the rear he let me BORROW them, but I have no idea I think roh.I hate them, but my LS rims I had to take off to get my spacers fixed. I was 1 week away from putting them back on the car, thats all I had been looking forward to doing for the longest time. The past few weeks I have been detailing my car... cleaning the engine tune up, washed the carpets inside fixing odds and ends and then this happens and all my efforts are shot. but yea question how much does the insurance companys usually sell the car back for? I have alot of stuff I want and I don't know if I'll have time to strip It all out.

For this car I took out a personal loan to buy the car and put an exhaust about 2 1/2 years ago so if I get over 4 grand I'll probally pay off the loan and get another personal loan if I want another mark but idk. car loans have to be within a certain time limit and I am picky about what I want my next car to be. I'll get a beater for now most likely, no idea how longthe insurance will take. and its cool to have a place like this where others can feel your pain ;)

I'm sorry to hear about the accident, and glad to hear that you are fine. Good luck with your visit to the lawyer.

Above all, I'm glad to hear you're unhurt.

I've always told Brad that if someone hits the Mark, they better run . . . I waited a long time to get this car, and it has everything I ever wanted on it :(

It's hard to find low-mileage Marks anymore, except for once in a while on eBay. There is certainly nothing like them made nowadays!

Oh man, That was a beautiful car too. Keep us posted on what the adjuster says. You got any buddies that do body work?
Who knows, maybe if the repair costs aren't too high you could buy it back from the insurance company and refinance the personal loan for the difference and have it fixed.
Or another Mark8 and your old one for parts. I know you want a new car though. Just me, I think new cars are a waste of money. They're overpriced and lose their value too fast to be worth the high payments. Like I said, my opinion.
I was telling a friend of mine just today that if I ever get Tboned in my Mark I was going to use the running gear to build a badass trike.
Cheer up man, at least you're not in the hospital...

Ouch, man. :( I know how upset I'd be if anything ever happened to my Mark VIII. I'm parting out a 93 Mark VIII in Deep Jewel Green with a Mocha interior right now, so if you decide to buy it back and try to restore it and Ponyfreak doesnt have all the parts you're looking for, just let me know. Unfortunately, the driver's door and front fender on my parts car are also damaged, so they'd be no help, but I do have a perfect hood among other parts.
