Hello all....long time Lincoln lover, hope to breathe some life into my 97 MkVIII base. I got it from a "nearly" first owner, it was originally his grandmother's. His g/f hit a deer, broke a headlight(but not the bulb!!!) and stuck the hood closed. The car was always garaged, but she most likely "ditched" the car when she hit the deer, there is a weird dent that looks like the whole rear of the car bottomed out and tweaked the unibody. Not uncommon on the two lane, no shoulder, "fun" roads around here. Anyway, neither of them wanted to deal with it, took it to dealer, became disgusted at what they were offered for a car that still ran great and had 80,xxxx miles on it. So I got it for a great deal, replaced the front header(it was already broken and had to break it more to get the hood open), and rattle can matched the tristage pearl with paint from one of the custom mail order mixers. All was well til a ice/snow storm...now have another header AND bumper and my power steering is barely intermittent. Hit a curb with one of the front wheels, hopefully its just the "IAV"? Forget what the variable PS assist valve is called at the moment. Anyway...all that, and a few small dents and I am considering Plastic Dip for a matte black finish, the car is clean enough to restore to original someday, but the Dip will suffice for now and hopefully wont destroy the finish below. Granted most of the car needs a respray at this point, but who knows...first step is hoping that a misfire on #6 is just a COP or wire and not "lost" compression. But no garage and hot summer days make for short working hours....

Anyway....Thats my basic story...been around Lincolns since I was a kid...drove a 93 MkVIII in 93 with only a few thousand miles(bosses car), and swore I would have one....and now I do...lol...blend door broken and all...oh well...still the best of both worlds...ride and speed....now how about a turbo or two?....;). I have other projects that might like a 4.6 or some variant...funds permitting...:(. I am an old car/home A/V installer and have a ridiculous collection of the "good" old stuff....mostly Zed amps, but a little of everything....all about trading....but will officially post that in the appropriate forum.

Thanks to all before me, and welcome to all after... Nathan:wave:

Welcome!

It sounds like that car is lucky to have you as an owner. Bringing it back from the brink twice!

We've got a real good thread here on the blend door replacement, and If you can't find what you need by searching, don't hesitate to start a new thread on it. We're more than happy to help.
