Stainless Steel Rear Shock Mounts

Alright guys, it's finally that time again. I'm putting together another run of 10 sets of these. Depending on how quickly they sell, I might think about doing another run of them shortly thereafter, and try to keep them in stock for the random people that ask about them every once in a while.

For those that don't know, these shock mounts provide a way to mount aftermarket Thunderbird/Cobra rear shocks to our Mark VIII's. They also give you a means of replacing the OEM shock mounts that are prone to failure due to the rubber bushing failing prematurely. If you're hearing a clunk in the rear of your car every time you go over a bump, chances are, you need these!

With these mounts, the aftermarket options available to you are tremendous. There are quite a few companies that provide shock options for the Thunderbirds or Cobras, that you'll now be able to use on your Mark VIII. These options range from cheap ($30) OEM-style ride (such as Monroe Sensa-tracs), to the higher-priced and better performing adjustable Koni's.

I'm looking at having these available by the end of the month, but only if I can get 5 pre-paid orders by the end of the week. The longer it takes to get the pre-paids, the longer it'll take for me to get them... I'm offering a pre-paid discount of $60 shipped for the first 5. After that, the price will be $66 shipped. The price has gone up slightly since I can no longer get scrap pieces of 1/4" and 1/8" stainless steel for free.

The list of people who have pre-paid at the discounted rate so far:

1. Pengun (LVC)
2. Hang the Expense (LVC)
3. Markviiiedrea (LVC) -- Lvnmarks here on LOD
4. 97MarkJA
5.

So, who's in??? I'm trying to get at least the first 5 pre-paids by the end of this week. The waterjetter is sending me some sample pieces and I'd like to be able to give him the go-ahead on them as soon as I QC the samples.

Sure thing. If you've got messed up stock mounts right now, you're gonna love these!
2 sets asap.

Smooth out the washers this time ;)
I'm working to have them as soon as I can. Realistically, I expect to have them ready in 3 weeks. If I can get them done before then, I will.

You and Gonzo live pretty close, right? If I can send yours and his in the same shipment, I can probably give you guys a shipping discount. Otherwise, it'll be $66 for Gonzo, and $126 for Jeremi. I'll wait to send my PayPal address until I hear back about this. If you want them shipped together, you guys can split the $6 shipping. I know it's not much, but it's something...

What needed smoothed out last time? The center hole?

Yes, J and I live about 12 miles apart. You can ship mine to his address if it's easier! It's up to him, I'm OK with what he decides.

Just FYI, I had to have the center hole drilled out to a bigger diameter for the Koni bushings to fit. Unfortunately I don't recall what size it was. It might be possible to get better quality bushings from that company (whose name escapes me at moment) that will fit in the hole without drilling. Either way it's not a big issue.

Yeah, I remember you telling me that back then. Honestly, I don't see why that sleeve would be needed. I think it was provided as a means to prevent over-torquing the rubber bushings that come with the Koni's by giving the outside washers a positive stop.

While helpful, I don't see it as necessary, and neither did Doug. I've had them installed on my car for several years now with no issues, so that further reinforces my beliefs regarding that. Please don't take offense to my statements, I'm not trying to say that it's not a good idea, I just don't personally see the need for them. I'll certainly entertain any arguments against my beliefs, in case there's something I'm missing.

Also, I would have no problem drilling the bushings to whatever size the customer wants. I would just make no guarantees on them after that.

Samples came in last night....sitting next to one of the originals.

Everything was good except for the O.D. of the washer. Once that's straightened out, I'll be completing the order! Can't wait!

Can you make sure to use metric hardware ? I'd like to retain the stock washer nuts as they are far superior in design when compared to the nylon lock nuts.
