steering shaft length

when doing the cobra exhaust manifold swap along with the steering modification I know or we all know the replacement shaft should be 7 inches. 8 inch shaft cut a half inch on either hand. I've heard people say it could be a little shorter. Borgeson has ashaft 6.75 inches. opinions on if that will work is a quarter inch going to make that much difference. common sense tells me it will work but I'd like other opinions

for those wanting to do the 04 03 cobra exhaust manifold swap I've actually found there are at least three different part numbers for those manifolds I took one of the Tasca the other one someone is used and I called the Ford dealer today and gave them my part number and they said it came off a 2003 Cobra these are the three that I found. department at the dealerhas said he saw multiple part numbers for other parts as well he wasn't surprised.

upon further investigation i found borgesun makes s hafts in 1/4" incraments as flaming river 2". so there doesmt need to be cutting down shafts anymore. if you buy the flaming river shaft at 8" and cut it down your ok as the spline length is 2". the borgesun shafts have 7/8" of spline so cutting 1/2" off end will leave onlt 1/4" of spline, not enough. also couplers come with set screws at one end or both ends, i want it at both emds. sure one end will work as the other will be on the rack itself but i want all the conne4ction i can get for any driving situation. the coupler only comes with set screws ar both ends from flaming river, or some other off brand. i searched and could not find a double set screw part from borgesun even on their own website which is where i found the 7" shaft. you can order from them directly if you like. the summit pary # s are.....
BRG-419207 ...$41.76 .......... 7" SHAFT
FLA-FR1942.....$36.97........... COUPLER

So the 7" shaft with the coupler is plug and play? Should allow enough room for the 03/04 exhaust to get up in there?

according to all the build threads say to use 7 inches as a result of cutting and half inch off each end of an 8 inch shaft. using the search function, beerdog, dlf and others. it should be worth noting the borgesun shafts according to their website R uncuttable so if you go that route you get what you ask foras I don't have the resources to cut the shaft properly without paying someone I'm putting my faith in Doug and others who have performed there

BBR {blow by racing) here in boca raton fl. is going to do that and cobra intake. finding anyone familiar with the mod motor is lean here, although mustang specialties is a block away and do good work but have a reputation of telling you one price and giving you another when you go to pick up,i feel comfortable after talking with BBR. i wanted to have them do it all at once saving me 100, but i still need the JLT CAI, and 65mm throttle body and tune to go with it all. thry are going to do the exhaust and dllete EGR aand air system from tunefor now some instant gratification. he (chris at bbr) is going to allow me to take pics there for documentation

No ones shafts are uncuttable. That just means they are not cuttable with a hack saw. Flamming Rivers are technically uncuttable since they are hardened steel. You will never cut them with a hack saw. You need to you use a high RPM cut off saw with a thin blade and ideally continually cool it with water. I used a water bottle and water bucket.

Having some issues with my FR joint, it's hitting my header and the part in the car is still to long. Am I doing something wrong? I'm going to try and shorten the stock steering shafts another 2" which would allow me to bolt the shafts back together. But I still have the u joint hitting the primary. This is all that's keeping her off her wheels, could really use some help
