stuck up air ride!

Last night I dropped a friend off at his house and was parked on an upward incline. Came out to go home and the air ride was way up. Figured it had to do with the incline and would correct itself. It hasn't. All shocks are at maximium height. Suspension is 1.5 years old.

I turned air ride on and off with no response. Pump runs still when I get in.

Was getting ready to clean up and post car for sale. I think it's not happy about my decision...

Does anyone know of this peculiarity? It's a new one to me!

Thanks,

Tom

Ok. If it is just a loose or corroded connection I should be able to take care of that quickly from the looks of them.

Thank you!

Actually, I think they were talking about the height sensors being disconnected mechanically from the mounting ball studs.

If it was a bad electrical connection on the sensor, you would have had a hard fault, and it wouldn't have pumped up at all. I recently had to fix 2 broken wires on a sensor.

Mine did the same thing after parking on an incline and it was the right front ride height sensor out of range so I found another on eBay for $25. Problem solved, sensor lowered the car and it's been perfect since! Good luck.

I also had a rear bracket loosen on me and it threw the position off. The heights were all out of wack.

The world happened between this post and the time I actually could get under the car, but as it turns out the height sensor was just dangling/bottom connection undone. I went to move it around and the rest came apart, including the clips. They seemed rather loose in there. I'm going to try to put it back together, but don't know that they will hold on their own or need some additional repair/replacement.

I have been given an opportunity to imagine the car with a set of 24's on it and been singing "remix to ignition" in my head. My wife could not believe I knew all the words to that song. This encouraged me to stop singing it out loud.

I will let you know the final result, and thanks for getting me pointed the right way.

Just wondering if anyone cn help me here. I have a 94 mark viii and when driving it under low acceleration from like 20km/h to 40-60km/h it jerks kinda back and fourth. It is really really noticeable and I ruled out it was the u joints when the car is In neutral with car off and e brake on the driveshaft is able to turn a bit and there is a clanking noise kinda over the transmission, not sure if normal or not? nd trying to rule out the transmission, I was told maybe the torque converter. Idk I just really wanna fix the jerking in the car!!

I've never had any suspension issues go so far as to cause a jerking in the car. Something in the driveline is what your problem sounds like. Or a very, very bad miss (maybe) causing a jerking sensation at low rpms with moderate loads.

Still stuck

I ended up leaving it parked for a while. Reconnecting the height sensor did not work because the ends of the sensor were brittle, cracked and fell off when I got back under there. I found one at the junk yard...it did the same thing, but neither would re-engage the sensors or cause it to lower, even before they cracked. A friend suggested I disconnect the battery and then let it reset the system...still no go.

Any other ideas, and does anyone have a front height sensor they would like to sell...known to be functioning with no cracks by the clip ends?

Turn off air suspension switch in the trunk. Jack the car up by the frame. Remove the wheel. Remove the air strut solenoid clip. Rotate solenoid till it blows out to the first stops. That will release the air in that strut. Re-install solenoid and clip. Put the wheel back on and lower the car to just under normal ride height. Turn on air suspension trunk switch and start car. It should raise the car off the jack to normal ride height. Good Luck.

pull the solenoid all the way out and inspect the o rings. they usually move when they blow out like that.
if you don't reset those o rings, it'll leak all over the place.

re: clunking at low speed Sounds like maybe a bad motor mount or tranny mount. Have you checked those? You can do this by putting the car in drive with the brake on and kind push the gas pedal and have someone watch if the motor is moving excessively. I think you can also check from under the car by kinda jacking up the tranny or using a prybar and see if the rubber mounts are torn.

For the car sitting high, probably I am too late, but if you haven't gotten it lowered yet, you can also do this by triggering the vent solenoids from the harness. I can't remember but I think there is a small control box somewhere on passenger side front under the dash. You probably need a wire diagram, does anybody have repair manual copies in .pdf on the forums or a link for download? Anyhow, if its relay activated, you would just pull the relay and jumper wither across the pins that goto the solenoid, it will click and bleed the air out. If its not relay but directly from the control module, I would unplug the harness from the module and jumper 12 volts to the terminals that goto the solenoids. One more thing, I think there might be a solenoid at the air suspension compressor that needs to be vented too, not sure.
