I don't know whay they even bother with the Lincoln name anymore - they're just totally diluting what used to be a premium American namesake...

I think that they are going to continue moving Lincoln downtown, until it gets to where the Mercury pricing structure is now, (Perhaps a little bit more expensive), and then kill of Mercury.
Question is: Can dealers survive on a diet of just Lincolns ... even at the pricing of a then (whatever year) current Pontiac? This decession was made when FoMoCo pulled Lincoln out of the Premium Car Group. (Jaguar, Aston Martin, Volvo) - But the funny part is that only the Volvo S80 competes pricewise with Lincolns. The others are less money. The S80 is priced at the Town Car levels of $48,000 to $54,000.

They're shooting for the lower priced range, but that's not necessarily a bad idea. This new vehicle had better shout "lincoln" though, not "tarted-up mazda". Lincoln also needs to address it's core business (town cars) though, as well as some kind of "image vehicle" (like the caddy XLR) if it wants to remain a "premium" brand.
