Tents

I wasn't quite ready to change the tent covers, but mother nature helped me to get it started. Added the roof shingles to keep the weeds down. Going to throw some paint on it before I put the new cover on. The 94's out, so I guess I'll have to give it some love, and new 10 spokes.tent shingle border.jpgTent blown apart.jpgtent blown cleaned up.jpg

I got them at Pep Boys. They go for around $200. 1st one I had a $50 coupon. The replacement cover costs $200. The poles are pretty good quality, and powder coated. The one that blew apart was 3-4 years old, and that's even being in New England. Beware, Harbor Freight sells one, but it's 10' X 17', and that will be tight. The base's were extra.

Decent price. We get a few tornados so i dont know how thatd hold up. At our shop the garage is underground and concrete reinforced, wish i had that at home.

I get some pretty good wind, but not tornados. I anchored it with plumbers tape (metal), to the 2 X 4, and with the car sitting on it, I figure it'll stay put. That's in addition to the stuff they give you, big screws. Tornados launch houses, so these "pole garages" don't have a chance.

Tony, you need to invest in a nice, 2 car, metal car port. Get a real nice one and have in enclosed for under 2k.

I had mine under one this winter, wanted to finish enclosing it but didn't have time.

here in CT, 10' X10' max size that wont get taxed, and at 45-48 mills it would be costly. pole garages are considered portable, and not taxed. My dream is a 3+ car garage, with all the toys, $30K-$40K. For some reason, I don't plan tooooo far into the future. I figure $400 every 3-4 years is not bad to protect the cars, and NO TAX !!!

Yes, it's on a slab, it works great. It's next to the garage and out of the wind.

I put a piece of gutter between the garage and tent, the bottom of the tent material sits in the gutter. It catches the rain run off from the tent and dumps it in the backyard. The concrete under the tent stays dry all year.

It was originally just an experiment, but it's worked for 2 years now.:D

That is a great idea. I need some protection for my car and that would be perfect. I don't know how well it stands up to strong winds but it is better than nothing. We have severe storms and there's always the possibility of hail which would be a disaster for my car. The price sounds good. I think I'll jump on the band wagon and buy one.
