The car that started all this madness

I was going thru some old pictures, and came across these shots.

My first Mark VIII, purchased back in 1999. Base model 95 with 46k miles.
It's funny how back in the day 325rwhp was a lot of power, and apparently enough to take this sled to 12.91@108mph.
Long gone, but not forgotten

no power until 3700 rpms :(

But I remember that car... I'm surprised you made it run 12s with the slushbox and only 320rwhp.

325 at the wheels isn't to bad. You were making well into the upper range of the 300's at the crank. What rear gear ratio did it have?

Nice photos!

Especially the dragstrip photos.:D

For those that don't know, the other red Mark is mine, the one that started my madness.

Was that a super charged car?
Yes, E-trim Vortech overspun to make 10 psi lol. Yes these were the days lol

Oh it made power, but the run was made with real load over 3k. Still, typical vortech. No wonder all my cars after that were posi displaced ;)
The slushbox it was not. Nonetheless, we were surprised too. It was more like a flat 13s car than anything,

I remember the car from the trip to KY. ;)
Yes, it had a Vortech.
Didn't you drive it there ? Oh man, that's a long time ago :)

What ever happened to it?
I sold the blower to someone in Canada, and then the rest of the car went to Mike in IL, who repainted the whole thing Mazda Copper, and did a black interior swap. The rest is history. :frown:

I think that car had 4.10 rear end, but I don't remember honestly. After 30+ marks it gets difficult.

nice cars both of you. only 325rwhp lol !! i like the grille you had on there
The grille was a labor of love ;). It looked ok. But thanks !

The pictures at the track bring back memories... I was on that track for the first time 42 years ago with a 65 Dodge 426 Max Wedge.... I was 16 at the time. Milan was like a second home to me.

Great pics! Its cool to look at what some of the past marks used to look like.

Lets just say that particular car has had an....interesting....life.
